Bucket list item is to return for an artist residency - one day simply wasn’t enough to truly experience all of the inspiration. I couldn’t find my flow state, kept regretting the marks I was able to lay down, and shed tears over her (ok, I may have also been crying over the state of the world). Finally, one day in a fit of anger I decided that she was a dumpster fire and painted flames across the bottom edge. Suddenly I knew where she was going. Finishing her became easy peasy. She was a hot mess because I was a hot mess, because everything was a hot mess. She was meant to be a depiction of strength in face of all the hot messes.
