Originally I was calling these paintings Momma Bears, having their roots in the symbol of a mother bear in protection mode. However, as Sky has slowly taken up more and more real estate in the paintings, I do believe a better moniker is “Sky Bear.” If you missed my analogy last time, I’m using the shape of Bear as ancient protector, and Sky represents an embrace or immeasurable space that surrounds each of us equally. I am using moods of Sky and her various elements - alongside Bear’s body language and other effects - to add layers of emotion and symbology to the painting.
