I'm staring at this painting, reaching for words, but I just can't. I have a gut level connection to these Daydream paintings, and each one pulls me more deeply into a space I simply can't articulate. Which I suppose means they are successful, but it's hard for me to truly and objectively assess that because they are meant to be an emotional response, not a representational painting. I know how to measure the success of a representational painting. But measuring an emotional response? that's still a bit hazy to me.
