Paintings With Soul

Since October 2006 I've been a daily painter, creating a new pet portrait at least 5 times per week. Over the years I've expanded my offerings to include a variety of animals, pets, race horses, children and other treasured heirlooms. In addition, I accept a limited number of commissions each year.

In 2015 I am honored to be the Kentucky Derby Artist.

You may use the links below right to receive my daily paintings via email or to follow my blog with a feed. I post additional info, including in-process jpgs and other related information, on the studio Facebook page as well.

Meanwhile, thanks
so much for your continued support of my artwork.

ARTIST'S NOTE FEB 6th: This painting has been juried into the 2007 Art Show at the Dog Show, and until the show comes down on April 9th, is available for purchase via the event organizers. They can be reached through the show website: This piece is exquisitely complimented by a rich, wide, burled wood frame, and priced at $150.

ARTIST'S NOTE SEP 25th: This painting was juried into the 47th Annual Thumb Exhibition, where it received an honorable mention.

Today’s dog was inspired by a bulldog I painted back when I first started accepting commissions. Winston was introduced to me along with a very long list of accomplishments and awards, but none of that mattered – I just wanted to get lost painting him - the dramatic folds of skin, the way his markings had softly faded over the years, that snippet of tongue that was always peeking out, and the intelligence lurking deep in his eyes.

This is a square piece, loosely based on the Winston that I recall, 6” around, packed with muted tones and juicy brushwork.

This painting is not for sale – yet. I’m holding onto this one as my entry for The Art Show at the Dog Show, a juried art exhibition in Kansas this March. Should it make the cut into the exhibition, it will be for sale through the show coordinators. Inquiries can come to .

Thanks, as always, for looking.
And for sharing these paintings with friends and family.
Happy New Year!
