I can't decide what my favorite bit of this painting is - the orange flower blooming above her left eye? the way her whiskers twist together into the negative space on the right side of the painting? her wry smile and half shut eyes? that purple flower just past her prime with petals dancing off into oblivion? Mum, a new selfie in celebration of Mother's Day 16" x 20", acrylics on panel, part of my ongoing series of self portraits. This one is not for sale - I'm going to will it to a kid with specific directions to hang above their eye level, so that I am always looking down at them, just like when they were all shorter than I...... Meanwhile, inquiries may come  to me . Please and thank you. Self portraits are a remarkable exercise. I've been practicing them at least monthly for nearly 2 years. They are an insightful exploration of mood, energy and outlook. Sometimes they aren't terribly flattering, but I'm not painting them to pretend I'm a supermodel. I'm painting them to become a better caretaker of myself.

David+Austin, a  Florus Animalum painting 36" x 48", acrylics on panel, starring two thoroughbreds nuzzling amid a tangle of english roses. David+Austin is $3599 to the first asking nicely. This is an incredibly complex piece full of subtlety, and while it looks pretty wonderful (if I do say so myself) on the computer, it's breathtaking in person.

Pink P(e)ony, a  Florus Animalum painting 24" x 48", acrylics on panel featuring a white pony crowned with a luscious bouquet of blooms. She is $1499 to the first asking nicely. Lots of drips, bursts of color, delightful drawn edges. Happy Sigh.

"Peony Diptych," (2) 12" square gallery stretched canvases that overall create a 12" x 24" image.  Done in acrylics and paint pen, featuring one of my favorite flowers, peonies. Available to the  first asking nicely  for $350. I'm planning to study florals a bit more seriously in a series of smaller works. I'm paying greater attention to modeling and composition, among other things. Trying to think about the painting as an abstract object and not as a representation of flowers, if that makes any sense. "Tulip Bowl," 24" x 30" acrylics on panel, featuring violet tulips in a goldfish bowl. Another piece created for licensing consideration, this one is available to the  first asking nicely  for $899, with one contingency. IF Tulip Bowl makes the licensing cut, I'll ship the artwork to my agency for a high resolution scan, after which the painting can be shipped to a new home. Thank you so much! Freezing rain, ice, sleet, puddles of standing water, all overtop an already saturated and frozen yard, gave us an indoor swimming pool in the basement today. After cleaning that mess up and discovering the (previously waterproofed) walls themselves were now oozing water despite the exterior of the house being dry, I needed to lose myself in some pretty color and a fantasy world. The forecast is for rain 4 of the next 8 days. Maybe I should just give in and turn the basement into a koi pond. My Better Half has a plan, though, that doesn't involve fish or fins of any sort. Another one from The Dryad Series, "Seeking Faith," a portrait of my daughter, 24" x 30", acrylics on panel, not currently for sale (this one is headed to an exhibition). However, inquiries may come to me . I could tell you that the inspiration for this painting came after a heart to heart talk with Annie about the election and believing in a system that has carried our country through centuries, yet has disappointed so many. But I can't lie to you. The real story is that I had the concept of a figure looking upwards and off to the side, with a sweeping drapery of blooms. I had literally (and I am using that word properly, trust me!) 60 seconds to capitalize on the natural light and take the inspiration photos before she ducked into ballet class.
