Hybrid Blooms, Phase 1

I took an online class on painting boldly and wildly in February, using florals as my subject matter. It kinda rocked my world. Some of my classwork is here,  class information from the uber talented Lynn Whipple is here . Prior to this, if you had told me I would EVER enjoy painting florals, I would have laughed in your face. And if a similar conversation did play out between us, I apologize.  I am loving painting flowers, cannot stop as a matter of fact, and am offering the first from my new series called "Hybrid Blooms." In these paintings you will find all sorts of blooms, realistic and fantastical, along with some unexpected guests. I imagine these paintings inside playrooms, nurseries, offices, and any space populated by a sense of humor. Let me know if you are interested in any of them, or if you would like to see a certain combination. Thanks for following along with my artwork, Kim ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com ...

Wonder Woman, Toy #8

"Wonder Woman II (Toy #8)," 6" x 6," acrylics on masonite, a portrait of my favorite super hero. This piece is $75, with free shipping inside the US. Purchasing is as simple as  asking . SOLD (TY!) Back to Work.... Yes, it was a holiday weekend, and there was plenty of relaxing, a little yard work, and some fabulous meals.  I also took advantage of down time, too, to get some work done in two workshops I'm taking concurrently - Ingrid Dijker's Rooted Woman journaling group  and Carla Sonheim and Lynn Whipple's Year of the Spark . I've been uploading photos of my classwork to albums inside the links above, if you are interested in seeing what I've been creating. This week brings about more toy paintings, of course, and some pieces destined for  Spa Fine Art , my gallery in Saratoga NY. Which I will be visiting, by the way, on August 1st, to do a live paint .  Mark your calendars so that you can stop on in to say hello! ...

Wonder Woman

"Wonder Woman," 5" x 7", still life painting depicting the original superwoman, painted from a vintage Barbie-style doll, acrylics on museum quality panel, $289. In process photos are on the studio's Facebook page  and inquiries may come to me . Busy busy day, but it wound up perfectly with a couple quiet hours in the studio. Tomorrow I'm starting a BIG commissioned double dog portrait, for those dog portrait fans who have been patiently waiting for the dolls to go away. The dolls will be set aside for a little bit...... Which reminds me - I have some ebay items to check in on. Miscellaneous doll heads. Don't you go bidding against me now!! Thanks for following along! Kim ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com
