And it is stunning, not that I am biased or anything. It seems like a million years ago when I started this painting .  It was pre-Stanka Kordic workshop . Pre-Kentucky Derby . Those things seem like a million years ago, and yet, they were just a few weeks ago. Which gets me kinda excited. What will the next 6 weeks deliver? "Chestnut" 24" x 12", acrylics on a museum quality panel, depicting a chestnut mare with a little bit of flash. And some glare on the far right - my apologies - with the glossy ground, this is a very difficult piece to photograph, and I'll have to get her done professionally! Inquiries may come directly to me .  This piece is my new all time favorite. Here's why. The color is a bit flatter in this photograph than it is in person. This painting is vibrant and delicious! That dark ground? It's really a sea of blue to green. And those pinks in her shoulder? I teared up a little over them. Yeah, I'm a color geek. The movement is true. I can feel her stepping forward, I can see the sun glistening off her muscles, and I can hear her feet hit the ground. The brushwork looks tigh...

This is because I have made a conscious choice to work in a larger scale, and that means I can't always finish a painting in one day. This is an important piece of my growth as an artist, but I know it's not nearly as fun to see unfinished works all the time, too. "Exhausted," 6" x 8", Golden acrylics on an Ampersand gessobord. This painting depicts a small bean bag Madame Alexander doll, and it also reflects my energy level today. This weekend was a loooooong one - The Princess danced at a convention (7 hours of class daily) then opened her dance competition season with a total of 6 dance numbers (5 done within the span of 3 hours, including costume, makeup and hair changes), running into the wee hours of the night (she did fabulously both on and off stage).  Sunday I left the convention early because The Caped Crusader played for the lacrosse tourney league championship, his team's first game since the death of a teammate's mother (which they won while sporting purple bandannas in her memory!). "Stevie," from the "Emerging" series, 12" x 12", acrylics on museum quality panel, starring a young Thoroughbred race horse and a smidgeon of dramatic light (and some glare in both upper corners from studio light!), $599 to the first asking nicely. Ask here! With Stevie's painting, I decided to go with a (somewhat) historical limited palette - only 5 tubes of paint were used. Which created some challenges, I agree. And I may redo this composition with different choices, but first I want to simmer with it a bit. In process pics are here - along with some great conversations about color and value. View In Process Photos "Wistful," 9" x 12", acrylics on museum quality panel, depicting a black and white mixed breed dog, $549 to the first  asking nicely  . When I took inventory last month, I pulled a handful of older pieces that hadn't yet found homes, and decided to give them a new look (as opposed to having a bonfire). It's not an easy decision, mind you, not easy at all. There's another painting underneath Bosco's face - hence the textured brushwork - that's the ghost of Phantom .
