NEW PAINTING Sunspots

Sunspots 24"x30"x1-1/2, acrylic on handmade cradled panel (no need to frame), $2000 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. Link to purchase is below.   I always called dappled sunlight "sun spots." I recently learned that sun spots, scientifically speaking, are actually temporary darker looking spots on the sun, regions of reduced surface temperature caused by a magnetic field 2500 times stronger than earth's. How cool is that? and what a great underlying idea for a painting. A future painting that is. Today, though, is all about this painting, dappled with sunlight and full of life. You can feel the rootedness of the pony's feet while the landscape gently whispers inside her. The light dances like little motes - perhaps they are floating off to start their own little universes. You can see Sunspots in greater detail  here , view her up close and in a room setting, and find a link to purchase.  Let me know if you would like a payment plan (30% non refund

RECYCLED ART Pink Barbie Foxes

A selection of mixed media drawings ranging in size from 5x7 to 8-1/2x9, all on recycled paper. Priced by size ($85+). Questions can always come  to me. It seems as though Barbiemania has taken over the world. While I have not yet seen the movie (we took in Oppenheimer first and didn't have the stamina to do both this weekend), my kids all did and are strongly encouraging me to go. Little known fact - i don't often go to the movies, nor do I watch much TV. I prefer books and the noise inside my own head, lol. So anyway, I thought it would be fun to indulge even more so in pink for a bit. And given I'm preparing a new fox-centric solo show this fall, I decided that the next batch of warmup drawings would be Barbie pink foxes. These are done on things pulled from my paper recycling bin - a kraft paper colored card envelope (lower left) with a Tomie dePaula stamp (love him!), the inside of security envelopes, and a surface collaged from a notebook page to-do list. You can se

NEW PAINTING Germinate

Germinate, acrylic on panel, 24"x24", $1200 plus s&h   to the first asking nicely . Questions can always come  to me. Germinate did not begin as an abstraction. She began as a fox, then sky bloomed from her face, with an explosion of peonies growing from the lower edge into a ascension of petals off the top edge. Then a little water's edge landscape crept in too. In the process of trying to meld them all together I got overwhelmed. I asked the fox, "fox, what if you run off for for a bit while I resolve the organic elements?" Fox thought that was a good idea. When she did return, she decided hiding was far more fun. There's all sorts of things buried inside this painting if you take the time to look....... a child, butterflies, rabbits, a mermaid...... I won't tell you all of them, but leave a few for discovery! You can see Germinate in greater detail  here , view her up close and in a room setting, and find a link to purchase.  Let me know if you

NEW PAINTING Petunia

Petunia, acrylic on panel, 24"x24", $1200 plus s&h   to the first asking nicely . Questions can always come  to me. Some paintings are problematic, more so than others, taking a substantial amount of time and effort to figure out. And in the course of resolving them, I end up learning so much about myself. Petunia was just that. While she evolved the last 6 months, I faced some challenging trials in every facet of my life. Petunia responded to each during that time with a new layer of marks involving dramatic shifts. With hindsight, I can see now that the things I chose to try out in paint were extensions of the same things I was unpacking in my own life. This piece has also been a breakthrough for me in that I can see now with clarity what it means to pull an idea out from my internal well of knowing - what Jung referred to as a "collective unconscious" - a space I plan to choose to work from going forward. The final detail, and the title of this painting, ca

NEW PAINTING The Mother Tree

The Mother Tree, acrylic on handmade cradled panel, 24"x30"x1-1/2, $2000 plus s&h   to the first asking nicely . Questions can always come  to me. She's her own ecosystem, keeping all in balance. She also holds the seasons and wisdom of all time. She is the sky, the land, the air we breathe, with a true firey spirit. All of the elements.  This is a special painting in that she includes many of the approaches and techniques I love the most along with some new to me bits, like thicker paint application and that little inset of spring in the lower left. This Mother will be an absolutely stunning anchor in whatever space she is installed, guaranteed. You can see her in greater detail  here ,  view her up close and in a room setting, and find a link to purchase.  Let me know if you would like a payment plan (30% non refundable deposit with the balance plus s&h paid off within a year) - those are set up on an individual basis and not processed through my website.
