Horses (to me) are akin to a holy spirit. They wrap me in an earthy, quiet calm that melts worries away. Time in a horse's company is healing and blessed. There is a magic about the gift of breathing in their scent, warming one's fingers underneath a mane, and looking into that eye which seemingly knows all. They can cure any ailment that weighs upon one's heart. At least in my rainbow and glitter filled world, they can. Warmly, Kim

I have been working - mostly quietly, but most definitely diligently - on a new book. I wanted to take the Sirens, all their nuance that doesn't transfer via screens, and place them in readers' hands. The design had to foster introspection, conversation and personal discovery. As I laid the pages out and refined my vision, this book also became a vehicle for marrying the paintings with my passion for art journaling. I couldn't be prouder to announce the publication of "Reflections, a Personal Melody." This book features over a dozen of my favorite siren paintings; in process imagery, details, and other snippets of the series which pretty much ruled my world this last year. The design is simple, with the idea that readers can soak up the message of a single painting, or embellish the pages with their own words or artwork as they see fit, working in direct response to the paintings. "O'Keefe," 12" x 14", acrylics on museum quality panel, $499 to the first asking nicely. Inquiries may come   to me . I needed to paint something silly and lighthearted, so O'Keefe, my hamster, became my muse. Originally I was going to have her flying (sort of siren-ish), but I couldn't pull it off. So instead I placed her firmly on the ground, sitting on an O'Keefe painting. Which was an absolute delight to create.

The second generation of Sirens (you can see   the first ones here ) has me thinking about the challenges of life. I can't paint these things without first visualizing them, and therein lies the challenge, because we typically cannot "see" an individual's struggle. I've spent lots of time imagining fear, conflict, faith, hope, grace as I jump into these new paintings. I welcome your thoughts - is this one successful? what else would you like to see me tackle? The black horse is a uniquely powerful amulet. 24" x 20", acrylics on panel, sold (thank you!). Inquiries may come to me. I was asked to paint a black horse, and somewhere along the way I was seduced by her magic. It's not the first time she's done this - Shadow was destined for another fate altogether when her current owner bought her from a kill pen. And as often happens with rescued animals, they reciprocate by rescuing their new owners.

36" x 48", acrylics on panel, featuring a unicorn hidden inside a rose bush. Don't despair if you can see her right away - just breathe slowly and look closely. This piece is $3599. This painting was totally worth splurging on the most insanely gorgeous blush roses. Added bonus - they will last a bit longer than I am accustomed to.

My brave crewe of painters from the Louisiana Art and Artists Guild. I've been in Baton Rouge the past week, painting alongside these lovelies, working on color, brushwork, and what it means to honor one's path as a creative. They were fearless and inspiring, each one tackling their own wish list of lessons and finding ah-ha moments. Including me! Now I'm in New Orleans with  Dianna Reilly (A.K.A. Stella Gray)  for a few days. New Orleans is the perfect setting for further discussion about the way creativity weaves itself into our lives, and how we can best feed it. There are also grits. Lots of grits.

"Peony Diptych," (2) 12" square gallery stretched canvases that overall create a 12" x 24" image.  Done in acrylics and paint pen, featuring one of my favorite flowers, peonies. Available to the  first asking nicely  for $350. I'm planning to study florals a bit more seriously in a series of smaller works. I'm paying greater attention to modeling and composition, among other things. Trying to think about the painting as an abstract object and not as a representation of flowers, if that makes any sense.
