Paintings With Soul

I thought I would start to practice this with some little songbirds, all puffed up and staying warm for the winter, like me in my five layers today. There's a good amount of texture in here but not as much as I think Stanka was pushing me to do - baby steps, right? And I've pulled out some unconventional tools to paint with; I'm auditioning combinations of different ones with each painting. It's actually fun, seeing what sorts of marks happen under these circumstances, and seeing these little birds emerge with so much personality. And then, when I was ...

"Nabu," 24"x24", acrylics on museum quality panel, a larger than life commissioned portrait of a border collie, private collection (THANK YOU!).  I can do something similar and work from your photos - just ask! Nabu's been on the easel for a bit each day this week, and today I'm calling him finished and asking my client for her thoughts. I have another large painting in the wings which should take up the bulk of next week. It is super top secret, so I won't be able to share a peep about it.  Which means I have no blog material lined up! VIEW IN PROCESS PHOTOS Started a new painting today that is high key - I needed a little visual break from deep shadows and dreary gray days. This is the perfect antidote.     Dang. It's October already. Where did the summer go?   To implement this month's desktop calendar, download the file  directly from my website . I've set up a couple different ways to do this, either via the photo album or a direct link.   I am by no means an expert on the variety of operating systems, so I highly recommend that if you don't know how to change your desktop wallpaper, don't email me for advice. Instead consult your computer's help files - they will be more concise, more knowledgeable and more responsive than I could ever hope to be.    I've sized this to fit a standard screen height of 768 - I realize there are lots of variables that could impact how the file displays on your screen. Let me know if, once you get the file installed, there are display quality issues (keep in mind, too, that options such as "stretching to fit," "tiling" and "cropping" will impact your display, so c...

"Come On In, The Water's Perfect," the newest Water Dog painting, 12" square, depicting a Great Pyranees in a wading pool, acrylics on a museum quality panel, $599 (unframed) to the first one  asking nicely . But you have to  ask nicely  inside the span of a week, because otherwise I'm shipping this painting to Sheldon Fine Art in Naples, Florida.
