Paintings With Soul

After last night’s lunar eclipse it seemed fitting to share a lunaresque (yes I’m making up words, but it totally fits!) painting. This is Possibilities (available for purchase), a 24” acrylic painting done with love and pure imagination on a cradled round panel. I make art to talk about happenings. Last fall I was busy painting things like this one above (yes, she’s circular just like the moon), Selenite Moons , Moonstruck , Orbiting , Pleiades and others in response to that eclipse and a subsequent string of super moons. In my mind, an artist’s job, my job, is to share my journey by making art reflecting what’s it’s like to be alive today. The things that pique my interest and tug at my heart. Sometimes the happenings are as basic as the first good snowfall of the season , sometimes they are a bit more complex like concern for children caught up in warzones . For whatever reason, I have been thinking of mangrove and banyon trees - how their roots are like limbs, and as such, what sort of appendage driven actions might these trees then be able to perform? Tiptoed whispery treks along the growth's edge. Multi-jointed shadow puppets against a glowing sky. Full on bear hugs for a Fox turned Wolf (she started out as Fox but landed as Wolf, so I'm thinking she's packed with the magic of each). "Sunrise," 18"x24", acrylics and graphite on stonehenge paper, $599 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. I've been doing a lot of experimental things in the studio lately, but today I wanted to feel a bit more accomplished. So I set out to finish something that had been started a bit ago. This was the initial study for the   larger 36" x 48" jackrabbit painting   I have in process, but as I worked on her today, she took on a life of her own.
