Over the weekend, I visited a mess of little peepers and floofers, which of course meant that I had to paint them, right?! It's hard to make these any cuter - but I think the addition of a crown levels things up just a smidge. I intentionally kept this one small, so she could be easily tucked somewhere. However, if you are looking for more of a statement painting,   Derby Chicks   is available. The male oriole is rumored to have a penchant for dressup.   Diptych (two panels specifically painted to hang together), His Royal Highness on the left and The Crown Prince on the right. Back in the studio, I'm thinking about that space between actual experience and dreams, where bits of reality stick to ethereal possibilities.  It's a fascinating place, that juncture between imagination and true events. Anything is possible, like royalty among the Orioles. I mean, it makes total sense for every species to have it's own royal family.

This Queen is stepping out proudly, with her love beads and tiara, and she is going to rule 2015. Carrying on with studies from  Vianna Szabo's workshop last month, and inspired by some of the brush and edgework seen first hand at the DIA yesterday , I am starting the year out strong, pushing forward, trying new things and taking notes along the way.
