I have seen plenty of imagery from others of horses running against flame backgrounds - however, I’m seeking a design that feels a little more unexpected and mysterious, totally in keeping with my Must Haves (a list of qualities I am drawn to in art). Like this lovely, carrying snippets of night sky filled with whorls of agate bearing eyes of glowing embers. Agate is a powerful grounding stone. The perfect accompaniment to Horse, the balancer of inner emotion and conscious actions. Throw in the transformation of a Fire Year and the energy rolls off this one in waves. Votive, a new Fire Horse Painting

check her out, make her yours 16x20, acrylic on panel, $1150 to the first asking nicely. This price includes s&h inside the contiguous US. Hawaiian, Alaskan and Canadian shipping available at additional cost. Votive can ship at the end of March 2026. So it’s the Year of the Fire Horse, a time of intense, transformative energy. Perhaps I am particularly attuned, being born a Fire Horse. Regardless, I am reveling in the various ways to embrace what this year may reveal for me and my art (I find it serendipitous that this is also my 25th year in business - a milestone celebrating durability and strength - colliding with a calendar year of passion, independence and risk taking). This new painting Votive is the embodiment of lighting a candle to mark something of deep significance. Perhaps it is a celebration. The beginning of a ritual. In memory of a loved one. Instigation of change. This painting is my prayer for the world, but also it is an open prayer for the viewer. For whatever th...

Inferno

check her out on my website 16”x20”, acrylic on panel, private collection (thank you so much and congratulations to my newest collector). Inferno was purchased by a member of my First Dibs club - this is a private newsletter that grants preferential purchasing power to serious collectors, giving them about a 24 hour heads up prior to the general public. You can   join (it’s free) here   - scroll down and fill out the second form. So   Atmosphere   got me thinking about trying another horse, this time with a dramatic arrangement of values. I had an in process panel that seemed perfectly suited for the challenge. That panel became Inferno. The same day I signed this one, Facebook memories reminded me that I   started her   exactly one year prior. When I set out I had no idea where she would land - I never do with any of my paintings - nor did I have any idea that the piece’s creation would span the duration of a year. It’s through a sequence of little questio...

Atmosphere

When I feel a bit shaken, I return to my comforts. A blanket warm from the dryer, mashed potatoes, my 80s and 90s playlists, that sort of thing. I have felt shaken up quite a bit for a long time. Including in the studio, which is a space that usually settles me. With my art the discomfort has been because I’m actively growing, trying all sorts of new to me approaches and processes. This is exciting but also very unsettling. The recent Bears were pushing me into important territory, but it was a lot for a long window of time and I needed a breather. So I returned to my comfort art - Horse. Taking this subject, which has been my balm since earliest memories, and introducing her to some of the new practices I had been trying recently with Bear was reassuring and a little bit familiar. It renew...
