NEW DRAWING Family

Family, image 33"x45", paper a bit larger, mixed media on paper, $800 plus s&h to   the first asking nicely . Will ship rolled. I can also include a magnetic scroll style hanging system, but recommend ultimately this piece be set behind glass for preservation. And of course, questions can always come   to me. I started 2 of these large scale drawings last year.    They were pinned to my studio wall, and every week or so I'd sit with them for a bit and add marks. The accumulation of layers over time created quite a historied feel to the surface that I quite like. My original intent was to include them in the Fox Medicine show last October, but they had other plans, clearly. One is still in process, but this one, Family, is ready to head out into the world. This is a wonderfully scaled, nuanced and soothing piece. She will be amazing in someone's home or office. Here is the link to purchase . NEW PAINTING Obsidian

Obsidian, 24x30x1-1/2, acrylic on Bara Woodshaping handmade cradled panel, $2000 plus s&h to   the first asking nicely . And of course, questions can always come   to me. I am exploring the depth inside an earthy palette   which by no coincidence also mirrors the view through my windows. This January is a bit different than previous ones because we have no snow, but I am fascinated by the range of browns and grays to be found in the foliage and frozen ground. Also, I filmed the making of this piece in real time and am editing the footage down to manageable length. I plan to offer a live paint and lecture experience via zoom in early February. Stay tuned. Here is the link to purchase. Thanks so much for following along with - and supporting - my art journey, warmly, Kim

NEW PAINTING Larimar

Larimar, 24"x30", acrylic on a flat panel, $1300 plus s&h to   the first asking nicely . Questions can always come   to me. Do you know that I love pocket stones and crystals?    I always have a few on me. A couple weekends back I acquired the most delicious little slice of   larimar   and she's been with me ever since.  This particular painting has been in the works since 2017 - most recently returning to my easel a few weeks back for a couple new layers of marks. She wasn't a problem child so much as I had very little clarity as to what she was trying to tell me. Now I can see that her collection of blues was leading me in this particular direction, to masses of sky and varied light, and I'm sure it's no coincidence that my little stone showed up to mark the occasion and inspire her title. Here is the link for  LARIMAR . Thanks so much for following along with - and supporting - my art journey, warmly, Kim PS   new art SOJOU...

NEW PAINTING Floret

Floret, 24x24x1, acrylic on a circular cradled panel, $1800 plus s&h to   the first asking nicely . And of course, questions can always come   to me. I have a couple 24" circular paintings in process    and a few larger ones currently being built. I absolutely love working in the round - and hanging a round piece on the wall brings an added touch of elegance to a space. This painting is made up of pigtails, cloud watching and the smell of freshly cut grass. Along with pony dreams. Somebody please buy Floret before I change my mind and opt to make her mine! Here is the link to purchase. Thanks so much for following along with - and supporting - my art journey, warmly, Kim

NEW PAINTING Monarch

Monarch, 24x30, acrylic on panel, $1300 plus s&h to   the first asking nicely . And of course, questions can always come   to me. I like to do something new with each painting So Monarch was no extension - her palette might look familiar (Spector and Obsidian were done with the same colors, a limited palette made up of earthy tones). I wanted to add a bit more variation with blues here - to allude to sky spaces and give a pop for those butterflies. So I added a manganese blue - just a smidge of it - and warmer yellows. I ended up with the most soothing gray greens. I'm really digging this palette. You can view a larger image of Monarch  here,   check out the details, even see her installed in a room.  Now if I could just manifest a literal blue sky here in Michigan, we'de be all set! Thanks so much for following along with - and supporting - my art journey, warmly, Kim PS do you know about the live q&a zoom events I'm doing twice monthly? check it...

NEW PAINTING Spector

Spector, 24x30x1-1/2, acrylic on a spectacular handmade Bara Woodworking panel, no need to frame, $2000 plus s&h to   the first asking nicely . And of course, questions can always come   to me. a ghost of a past painting This is a rework of a piece from last August. Hindsight and fresh eyes enabled me to see potential in repainting some of the passages of the older piece. While I loved what she was, because of the creative growth I've made the past six months, I was able so envision - and manifest - significant change. The piece is all the stronger for it, too. She feels more mysterious and possesses greater power. She will be utterly gorgeous hanging in your home. Can't you picture it? You can view a larger image of Spector  here , check out the details, even see her installed in a room.  And if you are curious about the changes I made, I created two lessons on this piece for my online students.   Come join my online classroom The Magic Space   ...

NEW PAINTING Resolute

Resolute, 16x20, acrylic on a gallery wrapped oval stretched canvas, sides painted so no need to frame, $960 plus s&h to   the first asking nicely . And of course, questions can always come   to me. it was important to me  (for some unknown reason) that the first painting of this year be a rabbit. Folklore claims that saying "rabbit rabbit" first thing on the first day of the month will bring luck, so perhaps I was projecting this belief to my portfolio wishes for the new year. (and having just signed my second painting of 2023, I can say that it might be working!) You can view a larger image of Resolute   here , check out the details, even see her installed in a room. You can also view other available artworks through the same link. Thanks so much for following along with - and supporting - my art journey, warmly, Kim

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Bare Branches, private collection (thank  you so very much).   Inquiries are always welcome .  as the wind howls outside my family is working together in the kitchen  and I am filled with gratitude for this blessing. There has been some quite animated discussion about how long to soak the cookies for the vermouth cake currently getting built. Fresh gingerbread is cooling, the Nutcracker is playing and the dogs are finally settled in around our feets.  After the last couple years, I don't take gathering for granted. And now that my kids are grown and live on their own, it's an even bigger deal to all be here (well, we are missing one, but hopeful she'll be able to make it tomorrow, weather gods permitting). I am aware that my holiday celebration is different than most others. In the best of times this season brings sadness, stressors, unrealistic expectations, grieving, all sorts of difficult things for many of us. I'm carrying space in my heart for t...

MORE RECYCLED DRAWINGS

One of a handful of recycled drawings   currently listed on my website . This one was done on a birthday card envelope and carries hints of my girlfriend's handwriting. With these personal bits of ephemera the work feels more private (at least to me), perhaps because it carries traces of loved ones.  Inquiries are always welcome .  There's a nice selection of drawings I added to my website yesterday.  I am fascinated by how the substrate sort of steers the feel of the work. And how I respond to envelopes/material that has handwriting. Someone else has started the drawing in a way, via the energy of their own script. And while I was thrilled to get some red envelopes in the mail the other day, I am challenged in getting the drawing to pop - nice reminder that red falls at the dark end of the value spectrum, so my drawing/lines need to be at the opposite end. You can   shop available work here . Thanks so much for following along with - and supporting - my ...

NEW PAINTING Sylvan

Sylvan, 15"x30"x1", acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas with image painted around the sides, private collection (thank you so very much and congratulations to my newest collector). Prints of Sylvan can be ordered  here .   Inquiries are always welcome .  Sylvan, when used as an adjective, means a pastural woodland.  When used as a noun it means a spirit of the woods. Seemed the perfect title for this painting. I thoroughly enjoyed building up the layers of greens on this one. Green used to be my kryptonite. Not so much anymore, although it still can be quite problematic. Thanks so much for following along with - and supporting - my art journey, warmly, Kim

RECYCLED DRAWINGS

These drawings, all done on recycled materials, are now available   on my website . All because you asked.  when I began doing daily warmup drawings last month I foolishly thought they were just for me But you set me straight. You said you wanted them. And you said "please?" So, a couple times each week you will find a handful of these listed on my website. I'll try to send a newsletter out as well, but I will be be mindful of how many emails we all get on a daily basis. I don't want to contribute to all the noise. I'll pack sales over the weekend and ship early the following week. I cannot guarantee holiday delivery at this point unless priority/overnight shipping is purchased. I will work with those of you who do wish to have your drawings asap, though. And thank you so much for your interest in my work. I continue to be surprised and motivated by your enthusiasm. Click here to view details of each piece and to purchase the available drawings.   PLEASE NOTE: R...

NEW PAINTING Poinsettia

Poinsettia, 18"x24", acrylic on panel, $1000 plus s&h to the first asking politely. You can make Poinsettia your own   right here .   Inquiries are always welcome .  it took longer to figure out what to paint on this panel, which until this morning was  an unresolved Daydream painting , then it did to actually create her. Once I realized/dared to imagine a pint sized pony and flipped the panel upside down, it became obvious. I could see the pony's head inside the abstractions, just like those old  Hidden Pictures games . And the poinsettia showed up when I placed an orange mark next to her right eye as a place marker - it immediately felt like a fluttering petal. So of course I invited more in. And everything fell into place after that. When I pay attention to the winks and connections that happen as I move through my days, the details line up and the pieces seem to paint themselves. Click here to view/purchase Poinsettia. ALSO, a reward for...

NEW PAINTING Citrine

Citrine, 24"x30", acrylic on panel, $1300 plus s&h to the first asking politely. You can make Citrine your own   right here .   Inquiries are always welcome .  Her name was Melissa.     She was the most beautiful friend. She loved her gray ponies. And she loved to photograph them. And she was very generous in sharing those photos with her circle of like minded horse crazy creatives. One day Melissa was diagnosed with cancer and in what felt like a matter of minutes, she was gone. A decade later, every time I see a gray pony I think of her.  Citrine was painted from one of Melissa's references. I think she would approve. Also, citrine (which I held while painting this one) is known for clearing negative energy (muffling my inner critic), providing inspiration (joy!) and healing (I felt like Melissa was sitting here in the studio with me, and that was quite remarkable). Who doesn't want to invite a healthy serving of all of this into their own...

NEW PAINTING Star

Star, 16"x20", acrylic on panel, $900 plus s&h to the first asking politely. You can make Star your own   right here .   Inquiries are always welcome .  every year I asked Santa for a pony.     I got books, model horses, subscriptions to horse magazines, but never my own horse. It's still not happened (I do realize now that I could make it happen were I willing to give up studio time. Also, sometimes a dream exists in order to help us manifest something else we don't even yet know how to articulate). See that pony who never materialized did contribute to where I am now. Little Kim I drew an entire stable of horses with which she papered her bedroom walls. And I continue to paint horses - each new piece is a sliver of what I imagine owning a real horse would be like. And somehow I've now owned literally hundreds of them. The latest, Star, literally has starlight leaking out of her markings (maybe she's a unicorn in disguise with a horn of lig...

NEW PAINTING Anim

Anim, 24"x30", acrylic on panel, private collection (thank you!). Prints and other items featuring her likeness can be purchased   here .   Inquiries are always welcome .  can you believe it's December? I sure can't.  Past Decembers were a blur. Back when I did commissioned portraiture (via   PaintingaDogaDay.com ), my holiday rush began as early as September 1st with a small pet portrait done daily up until mid December. Some days I would complete 2. By the time I got all the work shipped off, I had two weeks to focus on our own festivities which also included two of our children's birthdays. And I was utterly exhausted. Last year was my first holiday in 20+ where I didn't have any commissioned portraits. While I missed the engagement with collectors and all the sweet little faces on my easel, I absolutely loved being able to whole heartedly focus on celebrating with my family for the entirety of the season. Being able to plan, anticipate and be fully pr...

NEW PAINTING Siesta

Siesta, 24" round, acrylic on a cradled circular panel, sides painted with an extension of the surface design, $1800 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. Link to purchase is   here .  Inquiries are always welcome .  It's Small Business Saturday. I have been a working artist for over 20 years. Your support has enabled me to build my studio, which is a small business. A woman owned small business, begun when I left the traditional work force to be home with my children. A business that literally grew alongside them. A business that bought music lessons, athletic gear, paid team fees, bought uniforms, covered dance tuition, clinics and workshops and tournament experiences for my children.  A business that goes out of its way to also support small businesses not just in my immediate community but worldwide. A business model that is focused on philanthropy, having donated thousands of dollars to animal shelters and rescue groups over the last 2 decades. A busin...

NEW PAINTING Artemis

Artemis, 36"x48", acrylic on a gallery wrapped canvas, sides painted with an extension of the surface design, $500 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. Link to purchase is   here .  Inquiries are always welcome .  This is a powerful painting - not just in scale. The air wafts about inside the painting, and it feels as though that breeze travels out into the physical space around the painting. The bear is a gentle thrust displacing the air and creating gentle eddies that are both seen and felt. I am offering Artemis for a limited time - if she has not sold by November 29th (next Tuesday) I will reserve her for a winter exhibition. So if you love Artemis and would like her to show up in time for the holidays, this is your personal invitation to purchase her now. Otherwise she will return in February 2023. Make Artemis yours   here . Thanks so much for following along with - and supporting - my art journey, warmly, Kim
