NEW SKETCH Specimen 20

"Specimen 20," 4" x 6", acrylics on watercolor paper, $50 plus $4.95 s&h. Inquiries may always come to me.

SOLD (TY KL!)
This is one of 5 little butterfly sketches, acrylics on watercolor paper, 4" x 6". This one is available now, to the first asking nicely. The others will be available next week through The Art of Custom Framing's exhibition "Postcards for Patricia," which opens January 9th.

I am lucky to call Patricia Riascos a friend. A number of years ago she was diagnosed with ALS. As her disease has progressed, Pat has continued to inspire and paint, adapting her practice but never compromising her passion. She even wrote a remarkable book about living graciously.

The exhibition "Postcards for Patricia" is an ALS fundraiser, a way for Pat's community of friends and fans to give a little back in honor of someone who's never stopped giving herself. Michigan artists were invited to create original postcard sized art, each of which will be available through the gallery for $50. The show opens next Thursday evening, and purchased pieces will be mailed after February 6th when the exhibition ends. I will be sharing additional information, including imagery of the available works, as the gallery makes them available.

But meanwhile, this little flutter-by is immediately available. Let me know if you want her.

Thanks, as always, for following along with my artwork journey,
Warmly, Kim

Yes, that is copper paint reflecting the studio lights on the horse's shoulder, and yes, that is a silvery haze around her face. Because starlight sparkles. Just like you.

"The Spell She Casts (Medicine Hat #13)," 16" x 20" x 1", acrylics on gallery wrapped canvas, image painted around the side, so no need to frame unless you wish. And yes, that glow you see in the image is gold paint reflecting the light - this piece will move and shimmer as you pass by. She is $649 plus s&h to the first one asking nicely. Inquire directlyto me- I accept personal checks, paypal, venmo and will arrange payment plans.

This Medicine Hat painting is number 13, so of course that association alone had me thinking about magic. If you love the company of equines, you know first hand the spells they cast. And that their magic lingers long after they have left.

30 Dogs 30 Days - Pink Chihuahua

My very first Dog a Day painting, Pink, a little 4" x 5" panel, private collection (THANK YOU!). This is where things really began to take off. But let's go back in time a little first.

It's 2006. I had been creating larger than life sized pet portraits for about 5 years, selling them online (via ebay and my website). I was a little disillusioned, always moving from one commission to another, with little time for continued learning or experimentation (entirely my own fault). In October I decided to carve out a small window of time each day for just myself. An hour to push paint without any expectation but to have fun. I builta blogas a dedicated space to record my efforts, because I love to compartmentalize everything. Yes, everything. My Inner Marketer thought I should dovetail the daily project with the studio in some way, to further drive traffic tomy websitevia keywords, regular updates and context similar content - so I chose to focus on dog portraits. As an ad…
