NEW PAINTING Fox Remnant 1

Fox Remnant I, 16"x20" original painting, acrylic on panel, $850 plus s&h to the first asking nicely.  Link to purchase is below. Please reach out with any questions.

In a nutshell, I start the majority of my paintings with a contour drawing. I particularly appreciate the tracery of linework that results from delineating the shapes that build the form. Then I add some painted marks (think about form), return to draw the shapes again (the lines are a wee bit different this time), and continue to go back and forth for the most part until I feel as though the piece is finished.

With this Remnant series I am drawing with my eyes closed, both hands on the surface of the painting. I am feeling my way into a form - Fox - that I have drawn hundreds of time. I imagine her, how my hands might cup her cheek or stroke her shoulder (Fox isn't tame, but she allows gentle contact), and I roll my tool through my fingers and across the surface while she comes to life inside my head. I will lean into the surface with my upper body, draw with an arm outstretched or move in super close. I want my drawing process to be a full body experience, engaging all the senses but sight.

I use the same process of drawing, adding paint, redrawing, adding more paint. Picking out landscape elements when i see them, using color and building up paint expressively. It's a challenge to keep the wonky bits, well, wonky. My subconscious wants to correct them, yet I do love the mismatched passages and the dreamlike quality she takes on when I leave some as is. I am painting a memory of Fox, my memory of Fox, and therefore her perfectly clear relationship to a living, breathing Fox becomes unnecessary.

Not every piece is successful - not in this series or any series for that matter - but each one does teach me things of great measure.

Fox Remnant I can be viewed up close, in a room setting, and even purchased right here. She will bring a calm, joyous energy to your space.

I am happy to offer payment plans, simply ask. A 30% non refundable deposit reserves the painting, with the balance plus shipping and handling satisfied within 12 months.

Thanks so much for your interest in my artwork,
All my best, warmly, Kim

Tabby Kit

"Tabby Kit," 5" x 7", acrylics on a museum quality panel, depicting a tiny little orange striped guy from Morgue File . This painting can be yours for $289, which includes s&h inside the US. And in case you didn't see it, a little doodle of him is also available for sale here . Inquires may come directly to me .  Although it certainly doesn't FEEL like spring here (snow and ice and wind chills, brr!), I can tell that spring is coming. The mercury is rising a wee bit each day and the days are getting longer and brighter. Over the weekend we drove with the moonroof open just to feel the sun's meager and oh-so-very-welcome warmth (although the heat in the car was cranked, too, in the interest of full disclosure!). I wanted to work with spring-like colors today, and this little guy was still on my mind , so I grabbed a small panel and got to work. Of course, I also have Poppy to finish and some changes to make to another po
“Rapt (Shadow),” from the Larger than Life series, 16”x22”, acrylic black lab mixed breed pet portrait on gallery wrapped canvas, $699. Inquiries to ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com . SOLD. This is Shadow, who went missing on Sunday night. He belongs to a friend of mine, and has been a fixture in our community for many years. Errant fireworks scared the silly old guy into running off, and his family is busy searching for him. (If you happen to be in the Lake Orion/Oakland County area and have seen Shadow, please call 248-391-0867 or 248-391-6817) I’m confidant that he is safe (somewhere!) and awaiting discovery, but meanwhile, couldn’t help myself from posting his portrait as today’s dog a day painting . He’s constantly on my mind, and probably will remain so, until he finds his way back home. Hug your four legged guys while you can! Thanks, as always, for looking. And for sharing these paintings with friends and family, Kim Kimberly Kelly Santini http://www.turtledovedesigns.com/ dis
