When I was a child the holidays were ushered in by watching The Wizard of Oz. This was back in the day before streaming or movie rentals or cable TV, when one had to wait for a network channels to air something. I believe it was Thanksgiving evening, or maybe the next day, when The Wizard of Oz was traditionally aired. It remains one of my favorite holiday memories.
I saw Wicked (the movie) a couple weeks ago and it blew my mind. So much eye candy, imaginative spaces, gorgeous costuming, the music and choreography. I realized that I’ve been on a poppy kick with my paintings lately too.
So this one started out as pink and green poppies - a nod to Glinda and Elphaba. And I decided I had to title her for The Wicked Witch’s nickname for Dorothy, Pretty. I had so much fun with this palette I’m going to try it again.
Meanwhile, My Pretty is drying on the easel as I squeeze out paint for the next one. You can view her on my website, inside a room setting and up close. The link to purchase her is also there.
Let me know if you would like a payment plan (30% non refundable deposit with the balance plus shipping paid in full inside 12 months time). Repeat offenders, i.e. returning collectors, please use “COLLECTOR10” at checkout for 10% off the acquisition of original artwork.
Thanks so much for your interest in my artwork.
Love you, Kim
