Fortitude, original acrylic on cradled panel, 18”x24”x1-1/2”, private collection (thank you!!). I welcome your questions (yes, I offer payment plans - details below). Just reach out.
This painting was a tough one to resolve. I couldn’t find my flow state, kept regretting the marks I was able to lay down, and shed tears over her (ok, I may have also been crying over the state of the world). Finally, one day in a fit of anger I decided that she was a dumpster fire and painted flames across the bottom edge.
Suddenly I knew where she was going. Finishing her became easy peasy. She was a hot mess because I was a hot mess, because everything was a hot mess. She was meant to be a depiction of strength in face of all the hot messes.
I entered Fortitude into a juried exhibition, where she’s been hanging out for the last month. She won best in show (not too bad for a dumpster fire!), briefly returned to the studio and then packed her bags and flew off to a new home this morning (a fantastic birthday present for my newest collector).
You can get a better look at Fortitude on my website. You’ll find links to zoom in close to her surface or view in a room setting.
Let me know if you would like a payment plan on any of my work (30% non refundable deposit with the balance plus shipping paid in full inside 12 months time). Repeat offenders, i.e. returning collectors, use “COLLECTOR10” at checkout for 10% off the acquisition of original artwork.
Thanks so much for your interest in my artwork.
Love you, Kim
