16x20, acrylic on flat panel, private collection (thank you to my returning collector who purchased Ammonite through my First Dibs Club - this is a preferred mailing list for parties wanting a heads up on acquisitions - you can join yourself here - scroll down to the “Become a Dibber” form)
At the beginning of March, My Better Half and I escaped the bitter cold of Michigan, crossing three things off our bucket list. One, a vacation with my brother and sister in law (it will be the first of many). Two, visiting Casa Azul, Frida Kahlo’s home (it was sacred ground). And three, exploring ancient ruins in Tulum, Mexico (where I saw one of the temples of Ixchel, the Moon-Rabbit-Goddess).
An unexpected treat was discovering the Mesoamerican Coral Reef, second in size to the Great Barrier Reef. I carry crystals and little stones in my pockets, so to walk the beach and see all these little shells, bits of coral, tidal pools filled with tiny fish, algae covered stones and other bits of delight was sheer heaven. The Gulf of Mexico fills her pockets with treasures, too!
So this little Fox (like all my animals, she is an extension of myself) is full of wonder and awe like I was while adventuring. And while those blues were originally meant to be sky, they had a mind of their own and turned into ripples of water, and then I teased a bit of a shell pattern out of them, similar to a piece of ammonite that sits on my desk. You can see the progression of the painting here.
I am so grateful for your interest in my work
Thank you so much for your support.
Big Fox and Sea Love, Kim.

Creativity documents our voices and builds community, something profoundly important right now. How can you help elevate and keep artists’ voices alive? It’s simple:
engage with your favorite artist via social media
share what they are creating with your friends
take a course and hone your own voice
purchase original art or reproductions (see below)
fill their tip jar (let’s be real, it’s all about Treats for Blue, the studio dog)
Your support keeps the arts alive, which means future generations will understand our perspectives long after we are gone. Thank you.
