Trouble, in process

IN PROCESS: "Trouble," 24" x 20", acrylics, charcoal and ink on panel, featuring a a kitten crowned with spray roses. On top of just being ridiculously juicy with color, this piece comes with a healthy does of personality. The painting is $599, with complimentary shipping inside the US, and will go to the first asking nicely. Inquiries may always come  to me . Warm thanks to Beth at Amazing Petals for helping me put together the perfect bouquet for this painting (and she thought brides were high maintenance!). The yellow pods (I forget what they are called) and the stabby greenery (knife something or other) were delightful to paint. And the soft greens in the spray roses..... they make me very happy. I know this painting will do the same for a lucky collector, too. Red Roses

"Red Roses," 24" x 30", acrylics, charcoal and ink on panel, a portrait of my first studio muse, Miah, crowned with red spray roses. Hard to believe she's been gone 8 years now..... She would have owned this look in real life. "Red Roses" is $699 and will go to the first asking nicely. Inquiries may always come  to me . Also, I have started  "Briar Rose," inspired by the same bouquet of roses topping Miah's portrait. Gotta get some mileage out of these blooms before they are too faded and wilty. Rhin-unculus, in process

IN PROCESS: "Rhin-unculus," 48" x 48", acrylics, charcoal and ink on panel, featuring a Momma rhino and her baby saurus. Yes, this piece is available when finished, and yes, I will accept a deposit to hold it until then. The painting, a wonderfully generous 48" square, is $4599. Inquiries may always come  to me . I see so many things to fix/adjust here, but I am forcing myself to stop and do real world stuff like laundry and running the homebound dance carpool. Because apparently the laundry has sprouted legs and is moving about the house (I suspect that the puppy has something to do with that!), and The Princess doesn't have her license (yet!). Salvador Doggie

"Salvador Doggie (Sal)," 24" x 48", acrylics, charcoal and ink on panel, featuring my newest muse, a rescued mixed breed. Details and in process pics are on Facebook , and I think the color there is far more representative of the painting. This piece is $1499, a total deal for the giant serving of joy it will bring, and that price includes shipping inside the US (I also ship worldwide for a small fee) - inquiries may always come  to me . Sal joined our family over the weekend. He came via a rescue organization and we know nothing about his past except that whoever it was who dumped him lost out big. He's a dear rat terrier mix with the brightest eyes and a wiggle butt who goes from 100mph to stop at the sign of a lap. Or a cookie. Didn't take him long to hit my easel, and I think his portrait sits as a great example of what I could do with your dog..... just think about it, then reach out if it's something you think you want to pursue! Mary's Little Lamb

"Mary's Little Lamb," 24" x 20", acrylics, charcoal and ink on panel, featuring a lamb sporting a bouquet of flowers. This piece is $599, and will arrive wrapped in love and compassion. The price includes complimentary shipping inside the US (I also ship worldwide for a small fee) - inquiries may always come  to me . Similar to the painting I did in homage for those killed in Nice, France titled " Camargue Peace ," the flowers here have particular meaning and were chosen specifically to honor those touched by the recent bloodshed in Rouen, France . I can't change the ugliness in the world, but I can counter it with beauty and love. Calla, in process

IN PROCESS, full image above, detail below: "Calla," 24" x 48", acrylics, charcoal and ink on museum quality cradeled panel (painting wraps around the sides, so there is no need to frame), featuring a white horse crowned with a bouquet of flowers. When finished, this painting will be $1499, complete with complimentary shipping inside the US (I also ship worldwide) - inquiries may always come  to me . This one is a self-portrait of sorts. As a horse crazy child, I galloped everywhere, and imagined a silky tail streaming behind. The flowers carry symbolic meaning or have special context to me. Next I'm trotting into the kitchen and get dinner going. The world gets darker by the day. I believe some of my best floral paintings are coming from a desire to create beauty and paint hope. Hobbes is one of these pieces. We can't let the darkness win.  Thanks for following along with my artwork, Kim ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com    WORKSHOPS: "Color-iffic," Montague, Michigan (near Grand Rapids), September 8-9th, 2016. Prairie Frida, Finished

In Process: "Prairie Frida," 12" x 48", acrylics on panel, featuring a prairie dog sporting a floral crown, a la Frida Kahlo  (she's a hero of mine).  Scroll down for more detail. This piece is $1599, and although it is still in process, you can pre-purchase with a deposit. Price includes complimentary shipping inside the US. Inquiries may come  to me . I've been working on her for about a week, getting things all drippy and luscious, then setting her aside to dry while I picked up another piece. I am in love with Frida, both the prairie dog and the painter. She is going to make someone's home pretty crazy fun - although I imagine she's much tamer than the artist Frida ever was!! Camargue Peace

Reproductions Available "Camargue Peace," 24" x 20", acrylics on panel, featuring a wild horse with a crown of blooms. This piece is $699, price includes complimentary shipping inside the US, and it will arrive wrapped in prayer. Inquiries may come  to me . SOLD (thank you so much!) I try to steer clear of politics and world events on my blog, but I can't anymore. It seems like every day our world becomes more divided, and humanity showers itself with additional pain. I had to pour myself into a painting done in response to the horrific tragedy in Nice, and spent 9 hours painting alla prima (wet on wet, none stop) today.  I've broken tradition and made prints available prior to the sale of the original, because I am hoping that adding this piece in whatever form to your personal collection will bring joy and peace to your life. We could all use some more of that, no? The Camargue Horse  is one of the oldest breeds in the world, and it ...

Tangle

"Tangle," 24" x 20", acrylics on panel, featuring a caramel colored baby bunny (anyone know what this color is called?), sprouting a tangle of what I believe to be Lady's Thumb. I tucked some clover in for good measure, too. Another painting carryling looser detail than what I've typically been doing, with a the price that reflects this. $699 will get Tangle delivered to your door (inside the US). Sweet Pea

"Sweet Pea," 16" x 20", acrylics on panel, featuring a teeny tiny baby bunny (lionhead? angora?) with the sweetest little white nose, nestled in a mass of sweet peas. This piece has less detail than the others I've been doing, and I rather like the sketchiness of it - consequently, the price reflects this as well. $599 will get Sweet Pea delivered to your door (inside the US). Inquiries may come to me. SOLD (thank you so much!) I've been working on this one since Sunday, picking her up when the larger pieces need some time to dry.
