A page from one of my journals, including ink wash, pencil sketches, palette liners, lace and collage. We'll work on our pages in stages or layers, building up the design as the weeks progress. |
It's been a long time coming, but I am beyond thrilled to announce my latest Journalling Workshop. This one will cater to adults. Starting in April, we'll meet once a month at Little Monster's Toy Store in Downtown Lake Orion, on the third Thursday (I like the ring of that, "3rd Thursday" bit). You do not need to have any prior art training or experience - Creative Journalling is simply a means of expression that anyone can do. Besides, won't it be great to have an excuse to color with crayons again? And talk with other grownUPs? Each month we'll explore a new process while working collectively on our own journals. The concepts will embrace creative use of materials and participants will be encouraged to experiment while forming their own creative voice. We will focus on the art part of creative journalling, but know that you are always welcome to fill your pages with text during the classtimes, too. I really hope those of you in the area will be able to join us! Thanks, as always, for looking at and sharing my artwork with your friends and family - Kim THE DEETS 3rd Thursdays, starting in April 6-8pm $15/class Bring a journal or blank book or even another book you want to alter - and do not fear - if you do not have one, Little Monsters stocks a great low-cost option. Feel free to also bring a handful of favorite art supplies, photos and other ephemera. Or cookies. Cookies are good! Most importantly, be prepared to laugh and have a good time! (above is another page from my journal, and yes, I have a thing for old dolls - I love thinking about the arms that cuddled them and the secrets they were whispered, even though I know they sometimes look creepy |
