This painting was a long time coming - I started her back in March, and she went through several renditions before I was able to figure things out. But she was patient, and I finally was able to tune out the rest of the world (including myself) and let her show up.
I have been thinking a lot lately about how we all are interconnected. How all the organisms in the world are literally just remixes of older stuff, of all that's come before us. The line work - the roots, if you want to call them that - in my paintings are a nod to this vein of thought.
We can't always see those pathways, but they are there on so very many levels.
