NEW PAINTING Corsage

"Corsage," 20x30x1-1/2, acrylics and water solubles (sealed behind varnish) on a gallery wrapped canvas, priced at $999 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. Collectors always receive a 10% discount. Inquiries may come  to me . After many years of being told I should be more proactive in using drawing applications to inform my paintings, I am finally testing the waters. It's been fun to digitize ideas as resources. I've also enjoyed building new digital concepts overtop images of other paintings, which is pretty much what I've been literally doing with paint recently, too, but with less of a commitment, because I can always hit the "undo" button. And I've not used up $20 worth of paint in the process. Making digital art* doesn't enthrall me as much as the actual painting process does, but I can see now how much of an utterly fantastic tool digital drawing is. Yup, I'm late to the party. I'd like to think I am fashionably late, lol! T...

Daisy's in the house - and could be headed to yours!

After summering at The Anton Art Center as part of the Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors exhibition "Here Comes the Sun," "Daisy" is back in the studio and available for purchase. She is generously sized 30"x30"x2-1/2 and a little larger than life (as should any creature with a powerful inner glow and veils of fresh flowers), acrylics and water solubles (sealed behind varnish) on museum quality panel, priced at $1899 plus s&h. Collectors always receive a 10% discount. Inquiries may come  to me . And "Daisy" is accompanied by "Bare Branches," "Confidante" and "The Torch Bearer." These four paintings were enjoyed by Detroit area gallery goers this summer, and now they are ready to settle into a more permanent setting. Scroll down for the details - and photos - for these lovelies looking for permanent homes. "Bare Branches," (bear)  24"x36"x1-1/2", acrylics and water solubles...

NEW PAINTING Trillium

"Trillium," 24"x30"x1-1/2, acrylics on gallery wrapped canvas, sides painted so there is no need to frame, $999 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. Inquiries may always come  to me . This painting was a long time coming - I started her back in March, and she went through several renditions before I was able to figure things out. But she was patient, and I finally was able to tune out the rest of the world (including myself) and let her show up. I have been thinking a lot lately about how we all are interconnected. How all the organisms in the world are literally just remixes of older stuff, of all that's come before us. The line work - the roots, if you want to call them that - in my paintings are a nod to this vein of thought. We can't always see those pathways, but they are there on so very many levels. Thanks so much for following along with my art journey!! I'm off now to connect myself to some dinner! Be well, Fondly, Kim

NEW PAINTING Chrysanthemum

"Chrysanthemum," 24"x30", acrylics and graphite on panel, $899 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. Inquiries may always come  to me . So after  Bloom , I wanted to try a painting that had a greater concentration of darker values. Sort of flip the formula inside out and see what came of things. So I started on a really dark ground. What came of things was that I constantly kept lightening areas of the painting as I worked. My natural inclination is to make things bright and colorful. I didn't realize how much of an effort would be involved in working the opposite way.  I'll continue challenging myself in this regard with the next painting. Wanna get in on how she's going to come together? I 'm doing a live demonstration with my online students this Saturday at 1pm eastern. I'm going to talk about the two artists that have inspired my new venture in building intriguing design, how they build their own studies and reference materials, and the...

NEW PAINTING Bloom

"Bloom," 24"x30", acrylics and graphite on panel, Not currently for sale. Inquiries may always come  to me . I can't decide what my favorite bit of this painting is - the orange flower blooming above her left eye? the way her whiskers twist together into the negative space on the right side of the painting? her wry smile and half shut eyes? that purple flower just past her prime with petals dancing off into oblivion? There's so much to look at and process here, it makes me giddy. My Magic Space (online) students are getting a video short about the making of this painting. There's also nuggets of info in there about finding your own artists' style.  If you are curious yourself,   please join us ! Be well, Fondly, Kim

NEW PAINTING Queen Anne

"Queen Anne," 24"x30", acrylics and graphite on panel, $899 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. I accept Paypal, personal checks and payment plans. Inquiries may always come  to me . Like many of us, Queen Anne cut her own bangs during the pandemic and immediately regretted doing so. They are almost grown back out and hardly anyone can tell, but she can't let it go. Totally relatable, right? Also, I utterly adore this painting. It is officially my new favorite piece that I have signed. We'll see how long she stays on top. She is a Queen, though. NEW PAINTING Sand Dollar

"Sand Dollar," 24"x30", acrylics and graphite on panel, $899 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. I accept Paypal, personal checks and payment plans. Inquiries may always come  to me . Sand Dollar loves long walks on the beach and a good Bloody Mary (the garnish is her favorite part). You do not want to go out drinking with her, though, as she has 4 hollow legs and can toss them back. She did mention to me, however, that she'd like to play the Day Drinking game with Seth Meyers one day. Goals. Be well, Fondly, Kim

NEW PAINTING Kaleidoscope

"Kaleidoscope," 18"x24"x1", acrylics and water solubles on cradled wood panel, image wrapped around the sides for a beautiful presentation, $899 plus s&h to the first to raise their hand. I accept Paypal, personal checks and payment plans. Inquiries may always come  to me . Did you know that a group of butterflies is called a kaleidoscope? I love the gentle flurry of butterflies, and that the fox, an agent for navigating new pathways, is manifesting them. This is a powerful painting with a calm presence. She would add a lovely grace to your home or office.  Thanks for following along on my painting journey, Be well, Fondly, Kim

NEW PAINTING Rachel

"Rachel," 40"x40"x1-1/2", acrylics and graphite on gallery wrapped canvas, image wrapped around the sides for a clean and contemporary look (because she is a modern girl, after all), $2499 plus s&h to the first to raise their hand. I accept Paypal, personal checks and payment plans. Inquiries may always come  to me . This is one of those paintings I cannot believe is sitting on my easel. About a month ago I had the idea to paint monarchs and foxes together, and did an online lesson sharing the initial work involved in building a visual language to carry her out (the lesson was recorded and is in my Patreon as part of the Real Time tier of experiences). I've not fully explored the range of possibilities, but you can bet that I am incredibly excited about the work to come. Meanwhile, Rachel is looking for a home. She's a relatively quiet guest with a wry sense of humor and a giant heart. She's also partial to white wine.   Message me   if you th...

NEW PAINTING Lavender

"Laveder," 30"x30"x2", acrylics and watersolubles on cradled panel, $1899 plus s&h to the first to raise their hand. I accept Paypal, personal checks and payment plans. Inquiries may always come  to me . May I present Lavender. She's pretty darned glorious, but I am most likely a bit biased. Lavender is a yogi and it's ridiculous - she will do pretty much anything for a real New York bagel and lox. Thanks for following along on my painting journey, Be well, Fondly, Kim

STUDIO NEWS

Kimberly Kelly Santini   paintings with soul because our world needs more beauty   Installation view of "Where We Were," a selection of original drawings created during 2020, hanging now through the end of July at   The Orion Township Pubic Library . Inquiries may always come  to me . I thought I would share a variety of news bites from the studio. You may have seen some of the faces I've been drawing this last year. I have installed a selection of them at   The Orion Township Public Library   for the month of July. This is the first time these have left my studio (excluding three which were exhibited last winter). Additionally, patrons will be able to make their own drawings in response to the exhibition, and opt to have their work hung on the opposite wall. I will be demonstrating my process on Saturday, July 17th, from 10:30am-noon. Please check   their website   for directions and hours. Meanwhile if you can't make the show in pers...

NEW PAINTING Buttercup

Kimberly Kelly Santini   paintings with soul because our world needs more beauty   "Buttercup," 36"x36"x1-1/2", acrylics and watersolubles on cradled panel, $1999 plus s&h to the first offering to take this sweet girl on a walk in the woods. I accept Paypal, personal checks and payment plans. Inquiries may always come  to me . Please help welcome "Buttercup" to the party. She's a big girl, yes, but surprisingly quite the empath. She loves gentle drizzly days and smelling the flowers. Is there a place in your home for her? In return, she'll show you her favorite fishing hole and where the berries grow the sweetest. NEW PAINTING Opal

Kimberly Kelly Santini   paintings with soul because our world needs more beauty   "Opal," 24"x36"x1-1/2", acrylics and graphite on cradled panel, sold directly off the easel. Inquiries may always come  to me . You may order prints and reproductions   here . I could not be any more thrilled to get to send Opal to her new home next week - she gets to be a Southern Belle! Thank you and congratulations to my returning collector for literally purchasing her dripping wet off my easel. Which bears reminding - if you ever fall absolutely in love with something in process, please let me know and we can work out first rights.  My collector also inadvertently titled Opal when mentioning that she particularly loved that the painting's colorway was the same as her birthstone. Which then informed a number of the decisions I made as I finished the piece. And, yes, if you follow me on social media, this is the one I took a sander to out of frustration and disgus...

NEW PAINTING Wildflower

"Wildflower," 18"x24", acrylics and graphite on panel, $799 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. I accept paypal, personal checks and payment plans. Inquiries may always come  to me . Raccoons kept popping into my brain for no apparent reason the last week or so, so I decided yesterday afternoon to give one a try. She got drawn in overtop an older painting, which immediately contributed to the blue palette. The feverfew is from my yard, and the peonies are inspired by artificial ones I set up for another painting (now long abandoned/something else, but the flowers were so pretty I left them out. Translation: I'm lazy.) I'll share what I posted on Facebook about this one:  Paintings don't always come together this easily, but when they do I attribute it to the last 21 years of working every single day. So grateful to be able to passionately work on my art and make a living doing so. Don't believe the myth of the starving artist - show up, do the...

NEW PAINTING Emerald

Kimberly Kelly Santini   paintings with soul because our world needs more beauty   "Emerald," 24"x30"x1-1/2", acrylics and graphite on cradled panel, sides painted for a beautiful contemporary look, $1299 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. I accept paypal, personal checks and payment plans. Inquiries may always come  to me . Emerald has been magical from the start. A painting overtop a painting overtop a painting overtop a painting - each rendition taking my breath away, but also becoming too precious to take any risks with. So the panel sat there, patiently waiting for me to jump back in, over the period of several years. I love working overtop another piece - the two paintings, the previous incarnation and the one emerging, have a conversation with each other. Bits are salvaged, ideas spark, something entirely new is born. With Emerald it is that glowing chest. That wasn't part of my original concept, but once I saw the fox, began p...

INSPIRED TO CREATE Artists Panel Discussion

I am so honored and excited to be part of this inspiring circle of women tomorrow. Please join myself,   Ardith Goodwin ,   Jennifer Steck  and   Kathy Lewis   for a conversation about how we have built creative lives (you'll be surprised to learn that the arts is a second career for all of us!) and what we do to sustain ourselves. Not only will the conversation be engaging, but each of us will also be giving away a piece of art or an art experience to four lucky listeners! You must have registered for the call and be present to win.  Grab your seat here. Hope that you can join us! And if you can't, don't worry, no tears necessary. The call will be recorded and shared at a later date. And special thanks to Jennifer for inviting me to be a part of her podcast. Meanwhile, I'm headed back to the easel - I have two lovely vixens here in the studio with me today, and they are calling my name rather boisterously. Thanks for following along on my ...

NEW PAINTING Gingko

"Gingko," 24"x36"x1-1/2", acrylics and graphite on cradled panel, image wrapped around edges for a beautiful contemporary look, $1899 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. I accept paypal, personal checks and payment plans. Inquiries may always come  to me . Maybe it's the gingko leaves fluttering about that lend a sense of magic. Or those blue eyes. Or that luscious pink rose slowly unfurling. Or the 4 leaf clover buried in the tangle of growth. I can't stop looking at her! She's emerging from the melted, nuanced swathes of color, partially formed but fully present. This is a remarkable painting to stand in front of. When dry, I'll hang her in one of the main rooms in the house and get some photos to show sense of scale and mood. This piece is something, all right, just like her namesake. A sacred tree inspires an ethereal painting. Thanks for following along on my painting journey, Be well, Fondly, Kim

NEW PAINTING Tussie-Mussie

"Tussie-Mussie," 24"x36"x1-1/2", acrylics and water solubles on cradled panel, image wrapped around edges for a beautiful contemporary look, $1899 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. There is a wee bit of glare in the upper right of this photo, and I will reshoot a proper image once I can bring her outdoors and shoot in natural light (current status: thunderstorms). I accept paypal, personal checks and payment plans. Inquiries may always come  to me . I started this painting back in late 2017/early 2018. My intention was for her to be part of an exhibition in March 2018. The thing was, I got her started and then I didn't know how to finish. So the show was hung and life went on. She sat prominently in the studio for about 6 months. I hoped that having her around would jar my subconscious into discovering her direction. When it became obvious that this wasn't going to happen, she was stored. And when I moved in December, still rudderless, she went...

NEW PAINTING Daisy

"Daisy," 30"x30"x2-1/2, acrylics and water solubles on museum quality panel, Not currently for sale. However, prints and other items featuring Daisy are available   here . Inquiries can always come  to me . This painting has consumed me the past week - but I am realizing that she is the sum of everything I have done to this point. My relentless choice of animals as my subject matter - even as an elementary school student - has taught me draftsmanship and an intimate understanding of their psyche, anatomy and presence. My deep connection with the natural world has brought an appreciation for the magic that our earth delivers on a daily basis. My longstanding commitment to daily painting - since 2006 - has brought with it a true knowledge of what my materials can do. The alignment I have built between my personal beliefs and visual language allows me to paint from a space of resonance and honesty, with a resounding connection to what I feel is true. A never...

NEW PAINTING The Gloaming

"The Gloaming," 9"x12", acrylics and graphite on museum quality panel, $429 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. Returning collectors receive 10% off. I accept paypal, personal checks and payment plans. inquiries can always come  to me . This piece showed up the other day, in just a matter of a few hours. But she also came to life overtop of another pony painting which I had labored over for probably 2 years at least, never quite getting that one resolved. So I drew a new pony overtop, keeping the head and neck placement but changing the body, added the celestial orb, painted a few marks/shapes (probably 1/3 of the panel is the old painting showing through) and voila!!  Funny how that can happen, isn't it? Her intention all along was to be herself - not something I was trying to force into existence. This also has me thinking that it might be fun to do a daily painted sketch of sorts on paper, and once I've accumulated a month's worth, to go back i...
