What if I applied the bird and flower concept I’ve been smitten with the last couple weeks to a fox? That’s what I was curious about when I started this one.
I began by painting a cloud filled sky, then drew in a fox in profile, intending to crown her with a glorious purple dahlia. But she had other plans.
She enticed me with that dancing edge inside her body on the left, and once I indulged that, the idea of a flower dissolved.
As an intuitive painter, I don’t allow myself to force anything into a piece. I’ve learned that when I do, the painting suffers - it loses some of it’s spirit and magic. So while I start with an idea, that’s just the launching point. I let that bit go when the painting shows me something else I couldn’t have dreamt up if I tried.
So that inner edge or slice of rainbow is the focus of this painting. Let’s see if a flower creeps into the next one, shall we?
