I’ve had a couple rough days at the easel. It happens to everyone. We can’t be on our A game every single day. But we can continue to show up regardless. And be kind to ourselves, because showing up is what matters - the work will find a way to get completed, eventually.
I bit off a bit more than I could chew, trying to paint something entirely new conceptually. I was chasing a What If that I couldn’t quite articulate, nor did I have a clear visual in mind of what it might look like (I rarely do anyways - I paint my way towards that revelation). So I set the bar really high - of course it’s going to be a challenge, then, right?
I learned a couple big things in the process, lessons that will be applied to future paintings. I haven’t figured out the What If yet - but it’s still on the table. And in the meanwhile, this lovely showed up - a sort of heart-on-my-sleeve summary of life lately.
This Momma Bear carries all the feels while wearing a mask made of blue skies, but she’s also traveling with a kaleidoscope of cabbage moths (which symbolize mystery, death and rebirth, and navigating darkness with inner wisdom along with the obvious, change).
Thank you so much for your interest in and support of my artwork.
Big love, Kim
