The Wonder Woman cons were quivering again today, as I sat by while The Caped Crusader got a new ankle.
There's nothing like a crisis involving one of your kids to cause a total re-evaluation of what seemed important, like, 5 minutes ago.
The Caped Crusader's ankle was shattered at football practice yesterday afternoon, probably just as I hit "send" and got my newsletter into your inboxes. This was followed by a very long and late night at ER, coordinating emergency carpools for the other two kids, keeping My Better Half (stranded 1-1/2 hours away with a flat tire) up to date, and the piece-de-resistance, serving cold cerael for dinner.
The Caped Crusader will be fine, a la Steve Austin style (and the other two also survived their sub par dinner), but ultimately his demonstration of courage and tenacity in the face of an abrupt end to his beloved football season - and his mobility for the next 5 weeks - well, it gave me pause.
Lots of them, as that seems to be the ER routine.
But that's ok. Because sitting still and just being, even when the just being is painful, is a necessary part of the human experience.
And right now I am so grateful to be able to feel emotions, even if they are terror and uncertainty, because that means I am here, now, with my kids and Better Half.
Fondly,
Kim, who delights in happy endings and homemade chocolate chip cookies, which conveniently, are both on hand tonite

Dear Copyright Thieves, Just because it's on the internet doesn't mean it's free for the taking. So let's just stop pretending the internet is a free-for-all. Don't play the card that you didn't know - that's insulting. And don't also tell me that you meant to follow up and get permission but never got a chance to. That's insulting too. And by the way, don't you have a copyright protection notice on your own site? And don't even try and point the finger at a third party who commissioned you to make a copy of my painting - again, an insult - you and I both know the difference between a reference photo and a painting. And don't tell me that I asked for it because I share my artwork on the internet. I share my paintings and ideas and the stories behind them so as to encourage others to pursue their own passions . I do not share so that those lacking integrity and morals can copy and market the images as their own...
You have been having a rough year I think. Glad all is fine and chocolate chip cookies are made! : )
ReplyDeleteApparently it's all been necessary, Miriam, as it will ultimately help me to get where I need to be. :)
DeleteJ'espère que tout va aller mieux... Une manière de retenir un enfant un peu plus longtemps à soi !... et de profiter de jouer encore à la maman poule!
ReplyDelete... Gros bisous
Martine, so true, so true!! I felt helpless until I got him home, all settled in, and was able to cook his favorite meal. Then I thought I might be contributing to the healing part. :)
