Paintings With Soul

Since October 2006 I've been a daily painter, creating a new pet portrait at least 5 times per week. At first the paintings were mostly dogs, but over the years I've expanded my offerings to include a variety of animals, pets, children and other treasured heirlooms.

And yes, I accept commissions!

so much for your continued support of my artwork.

Telling Secrets

"Telling Secrets," 12" x 12", portrait of two kitties in the sunlight, done in acrylic on a museum quality panel, available for $599. Interested parties may email me for more information.

In process views of "Telling Secrets" were shared on thestudio Facebook page yesterday. You can find them insidethe Mobile Uploads folder. And by the way, you do not need to have a Facebook account to view either of those links.

I'd love to talk about creating spectacular original art for you - email me and we can talk.

Last night at my Art Guild meeting we hosted a critique. It's one of the best attended meetings of the year.

There's nothing like a well run critique to get your creative juices going.  Analyzing the artwork and discussing elements like compositional plays, palette choices, methods of markmaking - it's all a great learning experience, even when the pieces are not your own.

I brought the kitties along - they didn't feel quite right to me. Sure enough, it was pointed out that I did not build enough contrast into the left kitty's face - there should have been a soft shadow cast by the other cat.

Once I slipped that in, the entire painting changed dramatically.

Thanks for following along with my artwork!
Kim, who's head is still spinning from all the sheer brilliance I took in last night
