"Little Man," 4" square, portrait of a mixed breed terrier, done in Golden Open Acrylics on Ampersand Gessobord. This endearing face can be added to your collection for $209. Inquiries may come to me. I've mentioned before how much I love painting mixed breeds because they are unique. This little guy perfectly illustrates my point! Thanks so very much for following along with my artwork! Kim Finnigan Some of you asked for a closer look at our snow removal fanatic, so here he is. Finni is a cattle dog mix, 6 yrs young (do cattle dogs ever mellow with age?), with an unequalled passion for burning calories. |
The cover of "A Dog Named Blue," now available from Blurb publishers. When I first painted Amelia I never imagined that she would be re-christened "Blue" and inspire a book. In her defense, Amelia had a number of other partners in crime - animals who's portraits seemed to fall into a specific color category and prompt color-centric names. In typical ADD fashion, my brain started spinning 100mph. What if I turned those muses' paintings into a picture book for animal loving kids? I shared my idea with three friends in the industry, and they eagerly offered their expertise. I am truly indebted to them. Illustrator and author Matt Faulkner and children's book author and literacy expert Kristen Remenar edited an early version of the draft. They suggested key plot/conceptual changes that made it oodles better. Designer Elizabeth St. Hilaire Nelson worked her magic, pairing the images with perfectly color
Kimberly,
ReplyDeleteLove this little one. Is he a rescue or someone's pet? I am looking for a dog like this to replace my beloved Frieda who crossed over in November.
Trisha
Trisha, I'm sorry to hear that Frieda's crossed. And sorry also to tell you that this little guy, at least the breathing version, has a happy home. I'm certain you'll find a dear little guy - where are you located?
