NEW PAINTING The Source

The Source, 18"x24", acrylic on panel, will be available at the end of August. Questions can always come  to me. The Summer of Abstraction continues.... In June I was scared about NOT painting animals and taking a break from the Talisman paintings to study abstraction. At first I really missed their presence on my easel. But after making about   50 new paintings   (I've been very busy), I don't miss them as much. They are showing up in other ways - hints of them are showing up inside the new work, like the smell of someone's hair after they've moved through a room. I don't think they (the animals) are fully realized - perhaps that's the whole purpose, for them to remain a ragged memory - and I'm honestly not sure what comes next. Here   is a video short sharing some of what I've been creating. Please take a minute to comment and let me know how they make you feel. The paintings rotate on and off my easel. When one feels finished (a flicker of...

NEW PAINTING Eddy

"Eddy," 11"x14", acrylics and graphite on stonehenge paper, $399 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. This piece will be shipped flat and need to be framed and set behind glass by the buyer. I accept Paypal, venmo, personal checks and payment plans. Purchase inquiries can always come   to me . More art therapy. It's cold and damp in Michigan today and the world seems caught up in an odd vortex of insanity. So what do I do? I work at the easel while wearing my woolen winter hat, and think of baby swans in icy, swirling waters. Now I'm off for some hot tea. Thanks for following along with my painting journey, Kim

NEW PAINTING Swaddled

"Swaddled," 11x14, acrylics and graphite on stonehenge paper, $399 plus s&h. I accept Paypal, venmo, personal checks and payment plans. Purchase inquiries can always come   to me . I am thrilled to share that my online vendor is now offering facemasks printed with imagery of my paintings. These are cloth facemasks for everyday use - they are not medical grade. To order   please visit here . You will need to choose the album of artwork, then the individual image, before you see the facemask option (you can order other items there as well). Also, I am uploading   the rabbit paintings, what I am calling The Talismen series   to this same site. I'm not entirely caught up with all of the paintings, but I'm working on it. You can order prints, note cards and other items (like cell phone cases too and yoga mats). And I do have plans down the road to put a small book together - I appreciate your asking about that! Thanks for following along with ...

NEW PAINTING Fragile

"Fragile," 11x14, acrylics and graphite on stonehenge paper, $399 plus s&h. I accept Paypal, venmo, personal checks and payment plans. Purchase inquiries can always come   to me . My strongest painting always connect deeply with what I'm feeling. Not sure why today in particular I was fraught with worry for the vulnerable citizens, but it was here in the studio alongside me, so it got painted into the piece. There's no such thing as an expendable life. And please don't turn this into a political debate. It is an artists job is to create work about their experiences/feels and make pieces that reflects their perspective of world events. I am merely doing my job. Thanks for following along with my painting journey, Kim

NEW PAINTING Fact Checkers

"Fact Checkers," 18" x 24", acrylics and graphite on Stonehenge paper, $599 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. I accept Paypal, venmo, personal checks and payment plans. Please   reach out to me   with inquiries or questions. This photo shows that there is some buckling in the paper - it will take a couple days for that to resolve, as the paint cures and the fibers dry out. I was so excited about this piece though, that I had to share it NOW. This is a breakthrough painting for me on a couple different levels. It practically fell off my brushes inside the last two days. They were looooooonnnnng painting days, but the good sorts of ones that motivate - they left me comfortably exhausted with just enough adrenaline to jump in all over again. Thanks for following along with my painting journey, Kim

IN PROCESS Resilience

IN PROCESS Resilience (working title), 18" x 24", acrylics and graphite on stonehenge paper (will need to be framed and set behind glass), $599 plus s&h when completed. There is a little bit of paper buckling and glare from the studio lights in the upper left - the paper is pretty wet, but ultimately this piece will dry completely flat. I accept paypal, venmo, personal checks and payment plans - inquiries may always come   to me , and thank you so very much. I finally made it to the easel today, and painted something (that wasn't a journal page) that I feel pretty excited to share. The past couple weeks have rocked me to my very core, which I'm sure is a feeling many of you can relate to. Here in Michigan we are on our first full day house arrest, and today I seriously limited my exposure to the media/newsfeeds and focused instead on the things that make me happy. Rabbits, line, flowers, color, pop tarts. I taught   a #journalthroughit session   this morning ...

NEW PAINTING Hedgerow

"Hedgerow," 18x24x1", cradeled wood panel, acrylics and graphite, $849 plus s&h. I accept paypal, venmo, personal checks and payment plans. Inquiries may always come  to me . This one has evolved all week, with various rabbits coming and going over the course of each painting session. I shared a number of images on   my Facebook page , and will be doing a more thorough explanation of my process in   my Patreon online classroom . But meanwhile, I'm going to sit and look at this painting, with her cloud bunny, and pretend it's not 300 degrees below zero outside today. Thanks, as always, for following along with my artwork journey, Warmly, Kim

NEW PAINTING Incarnate (Daydream 44)

Available through March 6th via   Starkweather Art Center . Inquiries may always come  to me . It's been a busy last couple of weeks outside the studio, between exhibition openings, guild meetings, artwork delivery and pickup, and critique sessions. I have not been able to get to the easel as much as I would like, but this sort of activity fuels and motivates. There is inspiration that happens when one gets to view artwork in person and talk to other creators. And, of course, I love getting my work out into the world, too, always. I am so very thrilled and thankful to share that the above painting, Incarnate, was honored with a second place award at   Starkweather Arts' Center's   Membership Show, juried by Peter Gahan. I thoroughly enjoyed being a panelist at the   Paint Creek Center...

I accept paypal, venmo and payment plans; inquiries may come directly to  me . Thanks so very much. It was a busy weekend, full of moments that will make me feel blessed in the coming months, when the colder weather keeps me closer to home and mostly bundled up inside (it's a standing joke with the neighbors that I go into hibernation between Halloween and Easter). Meanwhile, here is the newest Daydream painting. I see one slight change to make with a couple of glazes once the surface is fully cured, but otherwise, she's ready to find a new home. Is it yours? Thanks so very much for following along on my art journey, Warmly, Kim

NEW PAINTING Cornflower Dream 1

"Cornflower Dream 1," acrylics and mixed media on bristol paper, 14" x 18", $250 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. This painting will need to be framed and set behind glass by the collector. I accept paypal, venmo, personal checks and payment plans. Inquiries may always come   to me   - thank you! At my weekly critique, I got some significant feedback about   The Daydream paintings . To work through some of the comments and resulting ideas, I decided to do smaller daydream type sketches on paper. This gives me the opportunity to pursue a variety of directions in a smaller window of time. You should see the studio - I'm horizontally surface challenged as it is, without adding a dozen drying paintings on paper lying about. And I want to do more - my muse is here, spinning like a dervish - but where to stack these while they are wet? As I study and learn from them, I'll be making the most intriguing sketches available for purcha...
