A small herd of deer bed down regularly in our yard and I was in love with the visual that came to me of layering a transparent spotted fawn with star studded skies, along with a number of other concepts ( Dawn and Dusk ,  A Thousand Pieces ,  Hollyhock ,  Presence ). This one languished alongside some other starts. They were born with great energy and the best intentions, but at some point began to feel derivative. Formulaic work does not excite me, so the work got set aside until I had the breadth to see them wit...

This piece is available to ship at the end of August 2025. Questions? just  reach out . I planted hollyhocks this year and was so looking forth to their burst of color in the yard. I watched them set buds and grow taller by the day. There was just a blush of color starting to show through the green, and then, suddenly, they were all gone. Or rather, they were mowed down to mid shin length. It was my own damned fault. It's not like Deer even bothers to be sneaky, I mean they don't even leave the yard anymore when we are out there. So it's ...

I’ve been having quite a summer fling with Deer. While this is only the third painting I’ve signed featuring her, there’s plenty others in the wings. I also find it intriguing that shortly after I start playing with watercolors in my sketchbooks, an acrylic painting shows up with watercolor like shapes. Art is not made in a vacuum. Get a close up look at Presence  on my website where you can see her installed to scale in a room setting and perhaps even make them yours. Dear, a new painting, now available

Dear, 23"x24" original acrylic painting on panel, $1200 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. Please see the links below. please tell me more about Dear make Dear my own I'd like a payment plan please We have a small herd of deer visit us nightly. Sometimes they linger under the gazebo and enjoy the moonlight. Or they amble down the brick walkway, directly through the hydrangeas and trample the wildflower bed to gather outside the family room window. To the untrained eye it would seem that they want to watch Netflix and chill. However, we know they are reminding us the bird feeders are empty. Which we are well aware of - we fill those in the morning. Because another thing deer excel at in addition to trampling flowers and driving dogs crazy is gluttony - deer do not share.  I am amazed by their solid bodies and spindly legs. And those giant, wet eyes that see straight through to your soul. I like to hold still and wait to see their breathi...
