NEW PAINTING Daydream #6 (Daisies)

"Daydream #6 (Daisies)," acrylics and watermedia on a 24" x 30" panel, $899. I accept paypal, venmo, personal checks and payment plans. Inquiries may always come   to me   - thank you! This is another Siren turned Daydream - there's something fascinating that happens when one uses a previous painting as a jumping off point for something new directly overtop. Contrary to what some may think, I do not simply coat the previous painting with an even layer of gesso and begin on a clean slate. Instead, I allow what was there before to interact with what reveals itself as the new design builds, responding intuitively (you can't plan this sort of thing!) and all these happy accidents happen. Approximately 1/3 of the surface of this Daydream remains untouched from the previous Siren incarnation. There's an echo of the previous siren figure behind the glazes (lower left), but only if you knew she was there to begin with. And the (mostly green) color from...

Parakeets

ABOVE ON TOP, Two (green yellow), BELOW, Two Budgies (turquoise blue). Each original is 8" x 8" x 1/2", acrylics on panel with the image painted around the sides, $159 each plus s&h. Inquiries may come  to me . I am thinking about lines, and how they are far more than just edges. Trying to make each of my brushstrokes line-like. It's turning my brain inside out a bit, although I expect my brain already was a bit inside out to begin with. Anyways, these would make glorious Mother's Day gifts. With a paypal payment, I can get them to you in time for gifting that first Sunday in May. Share Tweet Forward

Sprout

Another demo from the workshop, "Sprout" was an example of my stepping out of my own comfort zone (greens terrify me). After all, if I'm asking my students to face their fears, I'd better walk the walk too, right? He's 9x12 or maybe 11x14 - it's been a long day and my brain is a little soggy - acrylics on masonite. And Sprout is heading to a new home, a home where veggies are loved as much as little green toddlers. But, nevertheless, please send your inquiries to me , and thank you so much. The Bar Has Been Raised I've gotta say that this group of painters has gotten me laughing harder than I have in a long time. And today they made me cry, too, you know those so-happy-I'm-feeling-the-love-too sorta tears? We've got one more day together before we all scatter to the winds. Sigh. And for those of you worried about my calorie intake, today included homemade fudge (DM you are The Best!), grilled oysters, fried drum fis...

Kermie, Toy #25

"Kermie," Toy #25, 6" x 6," acrylics on masonite, depicting a vintage Fisher Price Kermit the Frog puppet (perched on an empty Scrumpies Hard Cider bottle, which you cannot see, but I assure you was delicious!). This painting already has a home (I don't think there's such a thing as a homeless Muppet, is there?) Meanwhile, connect with me  via email  if you are looking for something in particular. I keep doing  the Muppet flail . It's ridiculous, I know. But the kids are happy to be back in school and I'm delighted to be back at the easel during daylight hours. However I think I pulled something in my shoulder whilst flailing.  Thanks, as always, for following along with my artwork, All my best, Kim ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com The 100 Toys Album

July Desktop Calendar

You can download the desktop calendar file   directly from my website . I've set up a couple different ways to do this, either via the photo album or a direct link. I am not an expert on operating systems, so if you don't know how to change your desktop wallpaper, please don't email me - I will indubitably steer you wrong. Your computer's help files will be more concise, more knowledgeable and more responsive than I could ever hope to be.  I've sized this to fit a standard screen height of 768 - I realize there are lots of variables that could impact how the file displays on your screen. Let me know if, once you get the file installed, there are display quality issues (keep in mind, too, that options such as "stretching to fit," "tiling" and "cropping" will impact your display, so check those first!).   Thanks, as always, for following along with my artwork,   Kim

Pinky & Blu

"Pinky" and "Blu", bunnies done in acrylic on bristol board, each original painting measuring 9" x 12". I'm going to tweak these two a bit more and then offer reproductions (notecards and/or prints on canvas/paper/acrylic/metal) starting at $50. There will also be smartphone cases - I promise to share order details tomorrow after I take care of one more tweak...... Meanwhile, inquiries/special requests may always come  to me .   Wouldn't these be fabulous in a nursery or playroom?     I was driving and otherwise distracted by some yechy looking weather blowing in, when the most wonderful idea smacked me upside the head.   Why not sketch animals overtop patterns, like what I did with  the dolls last week ? But take it a step further and paint my own patterns?   That idea sure got me through errands lickety spilt!   When do you get your best ideas? Kim ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com

Bear's Backscratch, In Process

IN PROCESS:  Bear's Backscratch, 12" x 20", acrylics on museum quality panel, a commissioned portrait depicting a delightfully goofy Golden Retriever, private collection (THANK YOU!). Inquiries may come  to me , though, because I can make something like this starring YOUR dog especially for YOU.     You've seen Bear and his sidekick Nita many times before. Daydream ,  Nana Nana Na Na ,  Cannonball ,  Snuggle Bunny , Snow Much Fun  - the list goes on and on and on, but you can see that these two are perfect muses and I take great joy in painting their antics.   Is your dog (or cat) a muse? you can always introduce us via digital photos.  Shoot me an email  - I paint from non-flash photos   that you have personally taken  (very important!) where the animal is at least 1/3 of the picture.    Thanks for following along with my artwork!
