NEW PAINTING Mother (Daydream 37)

"Mother (Daydream 37)," 24" x 30" x 1-1/2", mixed media (acrylics and graphite) on cradeled panel, $1299 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. I accept paypal, venmo and payment plans; inquiries may come directly to  me . Thanks so very much. I hesitate to title the majority of my Daydream paintings because I feel that guides viewers' perception and perhaps limits what they see inside a piece. And I debated this for days here, ultimately choosing a generic title, "Mother," that could itself become interpreted in a variety of ways, similar to the image. She, this painting, needed something more significant than just another number. I'll keep the true meaning to myself. It's mostly important that I painted my story - it's not so important that I shout it out overtop everyone else's voice. Because we all have stories. I'd love to know your interpretation, though, what do YOU see here? Thanks so very much for fol

NEW PAINTING Daydream 36

"Daydream 36," 30" x 40" x 1-1/2", mixed media (acrylics and graphite) on gallery wrapped canvas, $1999  plus s&h to the first asking nicely. I accept paypal, venmo and payment plans; inquiries may come directly to  me . Thanks so very much. This painting was, just a few days ago,   Daydream 2  (and here's   another link to an even earlier stage) . I felt that I could tell her story better now, with all I've learned in the past 4 months exploring this concept. She went back on my easel, and became this. I could sit and look at her all day long. As a matter of fact, I did just that for a good chunk of time last night. Michigan friends, she (and another Daydream friend, as yet not chosen) will be debuting at   Starkweather Arts Center's 20th Anniversary Exhibition , opening on November 2nd. Come soak them up in person. Thanks so very much for following along on my art journey, Warmly, Kim

NEW PAINTING Loui

"Loui," 30" x 30" x 2", acrylics on cradeled museum quality panel, featuring my grand-puppy. If you would like something similar starring your own puppy (or any pet - I don't discriminate), please shoot  me  an email. THIS portrait was a huge surprise. We gifted it yesterday to The Caped Crusader for his birthday. And I'd been waiting a looong time to reveal it, too, having wanted to paint this little guy since he first showed up in our lives. Loui and his siblings were dumped in a cardboard box at about 6 weeks old. My son found him online via a rescue group, just a short time after our family had said goodbye to Finnigan, the dog he grew up with, in July. Loui is an adorably sweet mixed breed, clever and honest, with gorgeous brindle coloring and ears he might never grow into. His larger than life portrait was hung with great pride over the fireplace. And I'm sure Loui is stretched out on the couch right now, too, taking it all in. He&

NEW PAINTING Kodak & Ella

"Kodak & Ella," 11" x 14", acrylics on museum quality panel, commissioned portrait starring two stunning golden retrievers. This painting has a home, but if you would like something similar starring your own family members, please shoot  me  and email. I take on a couple pet portraits each month, but don't always get the chance to share them in my newsletter, since the vast majority of them are gifts and sharing could spoil the surprise. But Kodak and Ella's portrait is heading to a collector who has been involved in the project since the summer. It felt so fantastic to send her the final image via email this afternoon and get an enthusiastic thumbs up in return! It will be even better to hear from her when she's holding this one in her hands, in her own home. If you are interested in commissioning a portrait, I can squeeze a couple more in prior to the holidays. And I can always put together a gift certificate, too, which makes for wonde

NEW PAINTING Warbler (Daydream 32)

"Warbler (Daydream 32)," 13" x 16", acrylics and graphite on wallpaper, $299 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. The rectangular section with the bird is the wallpaper itself; the remainder of the surface carried layers of marks laid down by me. The crease in the middle is part of the painting. This piece will need to be framed behind glass. I accept paypal, venmo, personal checks and payment plans.  Inquiries may always come   to me . I am intrigued by the addition of collage materials to my Daydream pieces. The conversation that happens between the painting itself and the collaged item is fascinating. But what happens when the collaged bit isn't collaged at all - it just looks that way? I'm figuring that part out right now. This is a Ralph Lauren wallpaper remnant I picked up at a garage sale. The pattern, from 2006, is called Marlowe Floral Cinnabar. If you know how I might acquire additional bits of wallpaper (not necessarily this patter

NEW PAINTING Anemone (Daydream 31)

Detail of "Anemone (Daydream 31)," 24" x 24", acrylics and graphite on panel $899 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. Full painting pictured below. I accept paypal, venmo, personal checks and payment plans.  Inquiries may always come   to me . Siren meets Daydream. I began   the Siren painting   in May 2018, but I couldn't figure out how to resolve her. That's because she showed up far too early - I hadn't yet learned how to do   this , with the glazes and lines. So she waited in the studio. Very patiently, I might add. STUDIO NEWS October 2019

Currently untitled, this is an early stage of an ambitious 36" x 48" Daydream painting. Acrylics and graphite on canvas. Studio Newsletter, October 2019 September sure flew by. Punctuated with 4 shows (The 59th Annual Thumb Area Art Exhibition at   Starkweather Gallery   (Romeo, Michigan) the   Detroit Society of Women Painters & Sculptors annual show (Grosse Pointe, Michigan) the   Anton Art Center   (Mt. Clemens, Michigan) and the   Greater Michigan Art Exhibition  (Midland, Michigan)), I certainly had a full calendar. I enjoyed getting out to the openings to see the exhibitions, meeting up with friends who had been traveling over the summer months, and connecting with new friends as well. In other news, My painting   Wabi Sabi   was part of FASOs TOP15% for their August competition. This is a lovely honor, particularly because the painting is all about resilience, and while I painted it two winters ago, the message remains important. Last winte
