I’m enjoying painting the equine form quite a bit - there’s two more in the works still…… I was reading about the Moon and Pleiades’ (also known as the Seven Sisters) lunar occultation happening this evening. The shadow of the moon will fall over some of the stars in this constellation, temporarily blacking them out. I thought it was so cool! Then later I realized that this little painting, which had previously been just the horse and clouds, was the perfect candidate for a garland of stars. Then she became   Star , which oddly enough I signed on December 5, 2022. Star morphed into   Champagne last winter when I was working on a series of floral filled equines. And on a recent blizzardy day I invited Champagne to the easel and she became Chocolate Rose. Each of the iterations has informed the next. I don’t totally wipe out/gesso overtop the prior painting - I simply start with a new idea and integrate it into what’s already on the surface.
