A painting overtop a painting overtop a painting overtop a painting - each rendition taking my breath away, but also becoming too precious to take any risks with. The Christchurch shooting has me feeling all sorts of feels. They settled in heavily alongside the news, and I began trying to wrap my brain around how to paint such a monstrous thing. It began with the idea of fragility, and how quickly the balance of life can shift. The painting   Delicate   (who sold while still on my easel - thank you so much AK!) came off my brushes, followed by this one. Scatterghost takes her title from the Mary Oliver poem   "The Rabbit,"   which is also a tale of life and death, although a sweeter one by far. "O'Keefe," 12" x 14", acrylics on museum quality panel, $499 to the first asking nicely. Inquiries may come   to me . I needed to paint something silly and lighthearted, so O'Keefe, my hamster, became my muse. Originally I was going to have her flying (sort of siren-ish), but I couldn't pull it off. So instead I placed her firmly on the ground, sitting on an O'Keefe painting. Which was an absolute delight to create.

"Princess Crabby Pants," another  Bauble painting, 9" x 12" x 1/2", acrylics on gallery stretched canvas (painted around the sides, so she can hang directly without framing if you choose). Available to the  first asking nicely , $289 (includes s&h inside the US). I started this painting last spring, then got too scared to finish it (yes, that happens to me too! far more often than I'd like to admit). It wasn't until yesterday morning, when I was actively avoiding cleaning off my desk, that she made it back onto my easel. And it's been a painting marathon ever since. Details on the auction are below and on  the studio's Facebook page.   In honor of Kentucky Derby Week, I've chosen a handful of older favorites starring horses for my next online auction hosted on  the studio Facebook page .   These are paintings I love, pieces that were exbibited/on tour up until a few years ago, when they were put in storage for one reason or another. Or maybe they were in a gallery that has since closed it's doors and returned inventory to me.
