I couldn’t find my flow state, kept regretting the marks I was able to lay down, and shed tears over her (ok, I may have also been crying over the state of the world). Finally, one day in a fit of anger I decided that she was a dumpster fire and painted flames across the bottom edge. Suddenly I knew where she was going. Finishing her became easy peasy. She was a hot mess because I was a hot mess, because everything was a hot mess. She was meant to be a depiction of strength in face of all the hot messes. I entered Fortitude into a juried exhibition, where she’s been hanging out for the last month. I’ve been calling this one Bloom and she’ll cover the weaving together of Fox and Floral. The course will include drawing exercises, lots of paint pushing, and a tutorial on creating lifelike eyes. We’ll paint a portrait together and do another piece featuring a bit more body and landscape elements. Pansy was the result of my moving through the lesson plans I’m tweaking in preparation.  I expect this course to be ready in June sometime, but that’s always subject to the editing and other work that happens in the background. Ok, it actually might have been a primal scream from an unidentified internal voice, but that’s kinda the same thing, right?
