So it seems that podcasting has replaced blogging. Technology evolves, and one thing replaces another - it's called progress. We can't fight it. I've been
blogging since 2007, the majority of that time doing so daily. And yes, my blog traffic has dropped significantly over the years. I chalked it up to social media and youtube being far more exciting. But I continue blogging because I feel it's like a visual diary, and it provides context to my body of work. To me, that's more important than the number of hits my site gets.
But I couldn't drop the idea of podcasting. It would be great to have a regular opportunity to connect with followers using a format that was meaningful to them. There's an entire generation I'll never get to interact with if I don't embrace the opportunities progress and change create. So I am compromising with what I'm calling a Vodcast - a video blog, live fed via Facebook. As an aside, my apologies to those of you reading this who do not use FB - trust me, I hardly use my personal FB anymore, but right now FB is free and easily accessed by millions, so it's a good testing ground. If there is enough interest, I will vodcast regularly - maybe once a week or so - to talk about things you want to hear more about - and I will investigate other potential hosting platforms.
Vogcasting will let me talk about the things I love - color, materials, learning, journaling. I could even do a demonstration, live on Facebook. Vogcasts would be little informational filled snippets, like sitting and having a cup of tea with me regularly, but without having to put on pants and make the drive to the coffee shop.
Shoot me a note and let me know what you would want to hear/see. I can't read minds, but I can read emails.
And here's a link to
the first one. And yes, I'll be adding this info to
my blog.
Thanks, as always, for supporting my art,
Kim
