Yellow (Sky Fox), original acrylic on flat panel, 18”x24”, $1000 plus s&h. I welcome your questions (yes, I offer payment plans - details below). Just reach out.
Typically I begin by finding the animal and allowing the rest of the painting to show up intuitively. With this one, however, I flipped this approach on her side and laid the sky down to start. I wanted Fox to feel vast and light, as if she was a breeze moving through, so I established that sky first. This gave me the chance to respond to Fox in relationship to Sky, and inherently also brought a lightness to the flowers that ultimately came on board.
This process and all the various techniques I employ in my paintings are included in my new online workshop Bloom, available through Kara Bullock Art School. Bloom focuses on weaving Fox and Floral in my distinctive style while also incorporating modules on nuanced color, intuitive painting, and instruction on how to hone your own personal inclinations into a recognizable artistic style.
