"Gator," 16" x 20", the latest Water Dog painting starring a golden retriever and a once-still body of water, acrylic on museum quality panel, available to the first asking nicely. Let me know if you are interested, and I will arrange for you to see a less-blurry jpg (I only packed my cell phone for this trip, and you all know how hard it is for me to take a non-blurry photo with my phone!!).
This is the painting I created in the lobby of the Grand Bohemian Hotel on Saturday evening. It was a fabulous nite spent meeting new fans and friends and working alongside Elizabeth. At the tail end of the night, she and I were treated to a tour of Mr Kessler's art collection, and I got a little teary eyed over Egon Schiele's sketches. Huge warm thanks go out to Debbie at the Kessler Gallery for putting this remarkable evening together for us both.
As always, there are a mess of photos on the studio Facebook page.
I am hoping to paint with Elizabeth later this week - but immediate plans include my journaling class this evening and some museum hopping tomorrow.
Thanks for following along with my artwork!

The cover of "A Dog Named Blue," now available from Blurb publishers. When I first painted Amelia I never imagined that she would be re-christened "Blue" and inspire a book. In her defense, Amelia had a number of other partners in crime - animals who's portraits seemed to fall into a specific color category and prompt color-centric names. In typical ADD fashion, my brain started spinning 100mph. What if I turned those muses' paintings into a picture book for animal loving kids? I shared my idea with three friends in the industry, and they eagerly offered their expertise. I am truly indebted to them. Illustrator and author Matt Faulkner and children's book author and literacy expert Kristen Remenar edited an early version of the draft. They suggested key plot/conceptual changes that made it oodles better. Designer Elizabeth St. Hilaire Nelson worked her magic, pairing the images with perfectly color...
Your use of color is amazing.
ReplyDeleteJulienne, thank you SO MUCH!! stay warm! :)
DeleteI follow your paintings in awe. Oh to have such talent and precise control. Love them all.
ReplyDeleteAngela, thank you - but this isn't a result of talent. It's a result of hard work, picking the brushes up every day, practicing for hours on end, years at a time. Really, it is!! And I appreciate your time and attention to my blog and artwork - thank you!!
