"Momma Bear," 36"x36"x1-1/2", acrylics and graphite/water solubles on gallery wrap canvas, sides painted (so no need to frame), $1999 plus s&h to the first asking nicely. Yes, there will be prints made of this one once she sells. Returning collectors receive 10% off. I accept paypal, personal checks and payment plans. inquiries can always come to me.

This one will be tough to let go. I just adore the end result - but more importantly, the road that got me here was fruitful, engaging and educational. I am ready to continue pushing my imagery and leveling up my creative voice. Momma Bear is a key milestone piece in this journey for sure!

A journey which, through the magic of the internet, I am able to share in great detail with my online students. I have two tiers, or levels, depending on your individual goals: Studio Visits ($15/mo) are designed for those curious about my process and starting to chart their own pathway. Real Time content ($25/mo) is meant for those actively working on building and refining their creative voices, with a deeper look at how I cultivate mine.

Online Studio Visit students are getting an in process video of the making of this painting. Online Real Time students are getting that in process footage plus an in depth breakdown of the germination of ideas that kicked her off. I openly and generously share my process and decision making and everything else that happens in the studio to impact my work with my online students. It's sort of like reality television, without the hair and makeup, lol! Learn more about it here.

My teaching offerings will also expand next week with the premier of a live pet portrait demonstration experience. I will talk about reference photo curation, composition and design, then go into substrates, blocking the painting in, and carry the mark-making until the piece is completed (or close enough that you all get the point). We will have a moderator and there will be multiple camera views facilitating a front row seat for all in attendance. Viewers can ask questions in real time, see how I work my palette, load my brush, and make marks on the surface, as though they are looking right over my shoulder. Part 1 will last about 2 hours, after which we will schedule a Part 2 (and so on), until we've covered all of my process and satisfied your curiousity. Please consider joining us - $25 will get you a seat, along with access to the recording after the event. And if you can't make the event live, you can also purchase an on demand option for self study afterwards.

Full information, including a link to register, is here on my website. And seating is limited, so please grab one if you plan to attend!

Thanks for following along on my painting journey,
Be well,
Fondly, Kim

Picture Book "A Dog Named Blue" - now available!!

The cover of "A Dog Named Blue," now available from Blurb publishers. When I first painted Amelia I never imagined that she would be re-christened "Blue" and inspire a book. In her defense, Amelia had a number of other partners in crime - animals who's portraits seemed to fall into a specific color category and prompt color-centric names. In typical ADD fashion, my brain started spinning 100mph. What if I turned those muses' paintings into a picture book for animal loving kids? I shared my idea with three friends in the industry, and they eagerly offered their expertise. I am truly indebted to them. Illustrator and author Matt Faulkner and children's book author and literacy expert Kristen Remenar edited an early version of the draft. They suggested key plot/conceptual changes that made it oodles better. Designer Elizabeth St. Hilaire Nelson worked her magic, pairing the images with perfectly color...

Tabby Kit

"Tabby Kit," 5" x 7", acrylics on a museum quality panel, depicting a tiny little orange striped guy from Morgue File . This painting can be yours for $289, which includes s&h inside the US. And in case you didn't see it, a little doodle of him is also available for sale here . Inquires may come directly to me .  Although it certainly doesn't FEEL like spring here (snow and ice and wind chills, brr!), I can tell that spring is coming. The mercury is rising a wee bit each day and the days are getting longer and brighter. Over the weekend we drove with the moonroof open just to feel the sun's meager and oh-so-very-welcome warmth (although the heat in the car was cranked, too, in the interest of full disclosure!). I wanted to work with spring-like colors today, and this little guy was still on my mind , so I grabbed a small panel and got to work. Of course, I also have Poppy to finish and some changes to make to another po...

Dear Copyright Thieves

Dear Copyright Thieves,   Just because it's on the internet doesn't mean it's free for the taking. So let's just stop pretending the internet is a free-for-all.   Don't play the card that you didn't know - that's insulting. And don't also tell me that you meant to follow up and get permission but never got a chance to. That's insulting too. And by the way, don't you have a copyright protection notice on your own site?   And don't even try and point the finger at a third party who commissioned you to make a copy of my painting - again, an insult - you and I both know the difference between a reference photo and a painting.   And don't tell me that I asked for it because I share my artwork on the internet. I share my paintings and ideas and the stories behind them so as to encourage others to pursue  their own passions . I do not share so that those lacking integrity and morals can copy and market the images as their own...
